The Combinatorics of Tandem Duplication [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Tandem duplication is an evolutionary process whereby a segment of DNA is replicated and proximally inserted. The different configurations that can arise from this process give rise to some interesting combinatorial questions. Firstly, we introduce an algebraic formalism to represent this process as a word producing automaton.

METTL3 knockout accelerates hepatocarcinogenesis via inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress response

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Liver‐specific knockout of N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase METTL3 significantly accelerated hepatic tumor initiation under various oncogenic challenges, contrary to the previously reported oncogenic role of METTL3 in liver cancer cell lines or xenograft models. Mechanistically, METTL3 deficiency reduced m6A deposition on Manf transcripts and

Long non‐coding RNAs as therapeutic targets in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and clinical application

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

On Duplication-Free Codes for Disjoint or Equal-Length Errors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Motivated by applications in DNA storage, we study a setting in which strings are affected by tandem-duplication errors. In particular, we look at two settings: disjoint tandem-duplication errors, and equal-length tandem-duplication errors. We construct codes, with positive asymptotic rate, for the two settings, as well as for their combination.

Duplication-Correcting Codes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In this work, we propose constructions that correct duplications of multiple consecutive symbols. These errors are known as tandem duplications, where a sequence of symbols is repeated; respectively as palindromic duplications, where a sequence is repeated in reversed order. We compare the redundancies of these constructions with code size upper bounds

Colloidal Quantum Dot Tandem Solar Cells Using CVD Graphene as An Atomically Thin Intermediate Recombination Layer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Two-terminal tandem cell architectures are believed to be an effective way to further improve the power conversion efficiency in solution processed photovoltaics. To design an efficient tandem solar cell, two key issues need to be considered. Firstly, subcells with well-matched currents and complementary absorption characteristics are a prerequisite ...

Practical experience in commissioning ring applicators using ring applicator component type with bravos control software v1.2

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The Bravos v1.2 control software introduces a ring applicator component type (ACT) with channel length verification to address geometric characteristics and dosimetric discrepancies caused by source positioning inaccuracies. This study aims to commission the ring applicator and investigate the new ring ACT in Bravos 1.2.
