Islam at the monastery: on infinity as subtractive truth L'islam au monastère : de l'infini comme vérité soustractive

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Based on ethnographic research at Rūm Orthodox Christian monasteries in Lebanon, the article studies scenes of Islam at the monastery as they intersect with anxious public debates on, and anthropological theorizations of, sectarianism and ‘Muslim–Christian’ relations in the Mashriq.

Targeting the noncatalytic activity of GSK3β modulates neuronal excitability in medium spiny neurons via Nav1.6 interactions

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Kinases phosphorylate ion channels, but their noncatalytic roles via protein–protein interactions (PPI) are less understood. Here, we identified the peptidomimetic ZL141 to characterize the PPI between GSK3β and Nav1.6, revealing a noncatalytic role for GSK3β in regulating Nav1.6 currents and neuronal excitability ...

Successful Thrombectomy Improves Functional Outcome in Tandem Occlusions with a Large Ischemic Core

open access: yes, 2023
International audienceBackground: Emergent stenting in tandem occlusions and mechanical thrombectomy (MT) of acute ischemic stroke related to large vessel occlusion (LVO-AIS) with a large core are tested independently.

A serum and cream moisturization regimen outperforms separate use in sustaining hydration, reducing TEWL, and balancing surface lipids over an 8‐h study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Over 8 h, using a Hyaluronic Acid Serum in combination with a Moisturizing Cream sustained skin hydration more than either product alone, while lowering TEWL and normalizing surface lipids. Volunteers also reported a more immediate and long‐lasting moisturization with the combined regimen. Created in BioRender. Maldonado Lopez, A.

Isometric training at longer muscle–tendon complex lengths: A potential countermeasure to impaired neuro‐muscle–tendon function during space travel

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Manned space exploration to distant destinations, including Mars, continues to be an aspiration of humankind. Space travel does, however, present many challenges to the body, amongst which adaptation to microgravity is perhaps the largest. For instance, both short and long manned spaceflight missions have shown substantial deleterious effects ...

Endovascular treatment for chronic tandem occlusion of internal carotid artery: a case report

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery
Background Occlusion of the internal carotid artery can lead to ischemic stroke. Currently, first-line treatment options for ischemic stroke include antiplatelet agents, lipid-regulating drugs, plaque-stabilizing medications, and comprehensive management

Individuals with persisting post‐concussion symptoms with physiological subtype demonstrate altered cardiovascular and autonomic responses to face cooling

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Individuals with persisting post‐concussion symptoms with physiological subtype (PPCS‐P) demonstrate exercise intolerance due to exacerbation of concussion‐like symptoms during incremental exercise. We tested the hypothesis that individuals with PPCS‐P (n = 12) would have a blunted cardiac autonomic response to face cooling compared to healthy

Endovascular Management of Tandem Occlusion Stroke Related to Internal Carotid Artery Dissection Using a Distal to Proximal Approach: Insight from the RECOST Study

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceBACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:Internal carotid artery dissection is a common cause of stroke in young adults. It may be responsible for tandem occlusion defined by a cervical steno-occlusive carotid wall hematoma associated with an ...
