Marine Macroalgae as a Safe Healthy Food While Meeting Food Security Challenges Arising From Climate Changes

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Planned harvesting and processing of marine macroalgae could meet future global food needs and mitigate fuel‐originated carbon dioxide responsible for climate change. Microalgal foods are nutritious and safe. The utilization of macroalgae would avoid environmental problems arising from the release of overgrowing macroalgae caused by heatwaves, which ...

Beyond Gut Modulation: A Critical Review of the Therapeutic Potential, Safety, and Clinical Prospects of Natural Polysaccharides for IBD

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
In this review, we critically summarized the application of natural polysaccharides (NPs) for the treatment of IBD. This approach combines, in a unique way (right), the basic structure–activity relationships of NPs from different origins (left) with their multipronged mode of action, which involves modulation of the gut microbiota and other ...

Seasonal drivers of plant–soil–microbial community structure and functions in Western Himalayan grasslands, Pakistan

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Plant species richness was greater in summer in both alpine and subalpine grassland ecosystems. Soil moisture demonstrates significant positive correlations with soil organic carbon and total nitrogen across seasonal periods. Microbial α‐diversity peaks during summer but maintains functional stability across seasons.

Harnessing the benefits of sorghum: In vitro starch digestion, in vitro fermentation and processing of tannin and tannin-free sorghums

open access: yes, 2013
Sorghum is an important grain mainly used for food and feed purposes. In most areas where sorghum has been used, it has had negative perceptions associated with its tannin contents, perceived low starch and protein digestibility and lack of functionality

Curing Perovskite Photovoltaics With Organic Functional Molecules: Progress, Mechanism, and Prospect

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, EarlyView.
Leveraging the advantages of precision‐targeted design, excellent chemical stability, diverse geometric configuration, and economic viability, the application of medicinally derived organic functional molecules can accelerate curing multiple problems in perovskite photovoltaics, not only promoting synergistic effects among the functional layers, but ...

Sorghum tannin and non-tannin phenols: Absorption and toxicity in chicks and rats, and their chemical characterization

open access: yes, 1993
The absorption and distribution of sorghum tannin and non-tannin phenols were evaluated by orally administering to chicks $\sp{14}$C-labeled phenolic fractions extracted and purified from radiolabeled sorghum seeds.
