Carboxyflavins, novel inhibitors of Taq DNA polymerase.

International Journal of Molecular Medicine, 1998
Carboxyflavins were found to be potent selective inhibitors of Taq DNA polymerase in a polymerase chain reaction. The inhibitions were dose-dependent, and complete inhibitions were observed at the concentration of 3.0 microM. Carboxyflavins were much less, or not sensitive to the DNA polymerases tested such as calf thymus DNA polymerase alpha, rat DNA ...

Peptide nucleic acid as a template for Taq DNA polymerase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2021
Peptide nucleic acid (PNA), an artificial DNA analog, comprises a purine or pyrimidine base and a pseudo-peptide backbone instead of deoxyribose-phosphate. PNA has been found to have stronger adhesion and higher stability in binding to its complementary DNA than deoxyribose-phosphate.

Dideoxy Sequencing Reactions Using Taq Polymerase

2003
Tuq DNA polymerase is a highly stable polymerase isolated from the thermophilic organism Thermus aquaticus. Because of its unique properties this enzyme has been extensively used for amplification of DNA fragments by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Alternative dideoxy sequencing of double-stranded DNA by cyclic reactions using Taq polymerase.

DNA and Cell Biology, 1991
The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a technique to amplify a specific DNA sequence millions of times. The thermostable enzyme Taq polymerase allows this procedure to take place under conditions of high specificity and automatization.

Experimental procedures comparing the activity of different Taq polymerases

Forensic Science International, 2004
Forensic investigations involve several scientific branches among which biological analyses are much more frequently requested as a consequence of their importance and great versatility towards most of the traces found on the crime scene. Biological analyses are lead in subsequent steps: extraction, amplification and STR typing of the specimens ...

Novel antiproliferative analogs of the Taq DNA polymerase inhibitor catalpol

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2007
The naturally occurring iridoid catalpol (1) is a Taq DNA polymerase inhibitor. However, its poor lipophilicity might account for the lack of biological activity against human solid tumor cell lines. The traditional prodrug approach by means of peracetylation of the free hydroxyl groups led to a compound, which showed a marginal growth inhibition ...

Effects of agar and agarose on VentTM DNA polymerase and Taq DNA polymerase

Biotechnology Letters, 1995
We have studied the effects of agar and agarose on Vent™ DNA polymerase and Taq DNA polymerase. Agar strongly inhibited Vent™ DNA polymerase but only moderately inhibited Taq DNA polymerase. Such a difference may be due to the fact that the two polymerases belong to different structural families.

Characterization of contaminating DNA in Taq polymerase which occurs during amplification with a primer set for Legionella 5S ribosomal RNA.

Molecular and Cellular Probes, 1994
An amplification product that occurred in negative controls of a PCR using a primer system for Legionella 55 ribosomal RNA was characterized by direct sequencing. The amplification product did not hybridize to a Legionella specific oligonucleotide.

Genomic Sequencing with Taq Polymerase (Linear Amplification)

1990
The use of Taq polymerase for the linear amplification of genomic DNA fragments by chemical sequencing reactions (Saluz and Jost, 1989) retains all the benefits of the classical procedure (Church and Gilbert, 1984), while being radically simplified. The scheme of this procedure is shown in the flow diagram (Fig. IV. 1).

Study on the Interaction of Colloidal Gold with Taq DNA Polymerase

Chinese Journal of Chemistry, 2007
Abstract The interaction of colloidal gold with Taq DNA polymerase (Taq) was investigated in this study. Taq‐gold conjugate was formed by adding the enzyme to the colloidal gold solution, as evidenced by UV‐Vis spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and photon cross correlation spectroscopy measurements. The conjugate was further characterized
