Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

AVATAR: Adversarial self-superVised domain Adaptation network for TARget domain

open access: yesExpert Systems with Applications
This paper presents an unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) method for predicting unlabeled target domain data, specific to complex UDA tasks where the domain gap is significant. Mainstream UDA models aim to learn from both domains and improve target discrimination by utilizing labeled source domain data.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

DOMAIN GENERALIZATION FOR SEMANTIC SEGMENTATION EXPLOITING VISION-LANGUAGE FEATURES [PDF]

open access: yes
openDomain Generalization in Semantic Segmentation (DGSS) is an attractive open research field in Computer Vision. It tackles the semantic segmentation performance drop that arises when predicting images of target datasets whose distribution is highly ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

AscF in the mycobacterial CIII–CIV supercomplex lacks metal and nucleotide binding but links malate oxidation to respiration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mycobacterial CIII‐CIV respiratory supercomplex is an obligate assembly, encompassing several subunits of unknown functions. We have characterized the intracellular subunit AscF, and show that it is unlikely to be a sensor for metals or nucleotides, but is required for growth on nonfermentable energy sources, and likely works as an adapter for ...

Domain Adaptation for CNN Based Iris Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have shown great success in solving key artificial vision challenges such as image segmentation. Training these networks, however, normally requires plenty of labeled data, while data labeling is an expensive and time-

Identification of the plant mitochondrial OrfX protein: A mass spectrometry approach

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mitochondrial genome of plants contains an open reading frame, orfx, which encodes a rare protein that has so far escaped mass spectrometric detection. The protein resembles the c‐subunit of bacterial twin‐arginine‐motif‐dependent protein translocases (TatC).
