Targeting Erosion Control: Economic Effects

1987
Economic effects of targeting soil erosion control were estimated for eight counties in four states [Alabama, Missouri, Tennessee, & Washington] in major erosion areas of the Nation. The targeting effort combined with ongoing conservation programs increased net benefits of USDA erosion control programs by concentrating efforts on highly eroding ...

Targeting forest management through fire and erosion modelling

International Journal of Wildland Fire, 2016
Forests deliver a number of important ecosystem services, including clean water. When forests are disturbed by wildfire, the timing, quantity and quality of runoff are altered. A modelling study was conducted in a forested watershed in California, USA, to determine the risk of wildfire, and the potential post-fire sediment delivery from ~4-ha hillslope

Target fabrication using laser and spark erosion machining

Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1982
Fabrication of laser fusion targets requires a number of special techniques. We have developed both laser and spark erosion machining to produce minute parts of complex targets. A high repetition rate YAG laser at double frequency is used to etch various materials.

Double circular erosion patterns on dielectric target in magnetron sputtering

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2009
In rf magnetron sputtering, a circular erosion pattern forms on the surface of a circular metal conductor target with permanent magnets on its back. In this case, the theory behind the erosion pattern has been established. However, in the case of a dielectric target, a double circular erosion pattern is formed.

A study of erosion through plate targets

International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2003
Computational experiments have been performed to study projectile erosion during the various phases of perforation of finite thickness steel plate targets. Studies were conducted at several impact velocities for thin, three-plate, spaced targets separated by one plate thickness.

Aerodynamic effects on PFBC erosion target experiments

Wear, 1989
Abstract Dust carried along by the exhaust gas from a pressurized fluidized bed combustor (PFBC) can cause erosion of the blades of the gas turbine through which the gas passes. To help quantify this erosion, experiments are performed using targets in a high speed gas stream laden with PFBC dust.

A new ionic-erosion method for self-supporting targets

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1989
Abstract A newly designed, efficient ion source has been developed utilizing argon as operating gas at low pressure. The produced ions are accelerated by a negative voltage of 300–1000 V bent by a magnetic field, and impinge upon a target foil operated as cathode.

Data-driven fault diagnosis method based on the conversion of erosion operation signals into images and convolutional neural network

Chemical engineering research & design, 2021
In the industrial process, the safety and reliability of the mechanical system determine the quality of the product, and whether small faults can be diagnosed in time is the key to ensuring the safe operation of the system and restraining the ...

Effect of Target Erosion on Properties of Molybdenum Films

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry, 2019
The influence exerted by the profile of the zone in which the target is sputtered on the structure and properties of molybdenum films produced by magnetron sputtering with the discharge stabilized in its current and power was examined. It was shown that the resulting films have a (110) texture and columnar microstructure across their thickness.
