Costs of task allocation with local feedback: Effects of colony size and extra workers in social insects and other multi-agent systems. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2017
Adaptive collective systems are common in biology and beyond. Typically, such systems require a task allocation algorithm: a mechanism or rule-set by which individuals select particular roles.

Makespan-Minimizing Heterogeneous Task Allocation under Temporal Constraints

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
Task allocation is an essential element for determining the capability of multi-UAV systems to perform various tasks. This paper presents a procedure called a “rebalancing algorithm” for generating task-performing routes in heterogeneous multi-UAV ...

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Cooperative Multi-Robot Task Allocation with Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper deals with the concept of multi-robot task allocation, referring to the assignment of multiple robots to tasks such that an objective function is maximized.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

A Survey of Task Allocation: Contrastive Perspectives From Wireless Sensor Networks and Mobile Crowdsensing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and mobile crowdsensing (MCS) are two important paradigms in urban dynamic sensing. In both sensing paradigms, task allocation is a significant problem, which may affect the completion quality of sensing tasks.

Transfer Learning for Mixed-Integer Resource Allocation Problems in Wireless Networks

open access: yes, 2018
Effective resource allocation plays a pivotal role for performance optimization in wireless networks. Unfortunately, typical resource allocation problems are mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problems, which are NP-hard.

From Task Allocation Towards Resource Allocation when Optimising Assembly Systems [PDF]

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2012
AbstractThe article discusses the question; is it possible to reach route flexibility and system proactivity through resource allocation and task optimisation. In order to answer this, differences between three types of optimisation regarding task and resource allocation are discussed: Global Task and Resource optimisation, Task optimisation and local ...
