METTL3-mediated m6A RNA methylation regulates dorsal lingual epithelium homeostasis
The dorsal lingual epithelium, which is composed of taste buds and keratinocytes differentiated from K14+ basal cells, discriminates taste compounds and maintains the epithelial barrier.

Genetic sensitivity to the bitter taste of 6-n-propylthiouracil (PROP) and its association with Physiological mechanisms controlling Body Mass Index (BMI) [PDF]
Taste sensitivity to the bitter compound 6-n-propylthiouracil (PROP) is considered a marker for individual differences in taste perception that may influence food preferences and eating behavior, and thereby energy metabolism.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Patient‐specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) can be differentiated into alveolar type II cells (iAT2s), expanded as 3D alveolospheres, and grown at physiologically relevant air–liquid interface (ALI). This study shows for the first time the infectability of iAT2s by the influenza A virus (IAV) and proves their responsiveness to the well ...

Qualitative and quantitative differences between taste buds of the rat and mouse
Background Numerous electrophysiological, ultrastructural, and immunocytochemical studies on rodent taste buds have been carried out on rat taste buds. In recent years, however, the mouse has become the species of choice for molecular and other studies ...

Evolvement of taste sensitivity and taste buds in chickens during selective breeding
: Chickens have been reported to have a low taste bud count and thus low taste acuity. However, more recent studies indicate that the earlier reported count of chicken taste buds may have been significantly underestimated.

Synthetic Cell‐Based Tissues for Bottom‐Up Assembly of Artificial Lymphatic Organs
Synthetic cells have emerged as a novel biomimetic approach for fundamental research and therapeutic interventions. T cell activating synthetic cells are able to form 3D tissue‐like structures by self‐assembly into lymphatic bottom‐up tissues (lymphBUT) with tunable biochemical and biomechanical functionalities as well as metabolic activity are ...

Growth and differentiation: Life processes in crops [PDF]
This booklet discusses two basic life processes in nature:growth and differentiation. It uses the examples of apples, carrots and wheat to illustrate how growers can recognize these processes and can take practical measures to correct the balance between ...
