Predicting Coronary Occlusion Risk during Redo‐TAVR at First TAVR: Asymmetric Calcification Causes Failure

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Predicting coronary artery occlusion due to sinus sequestration (SS) during a second transcatheter aortic valve (TAV) procedure using pre‐procedural computed tomography (CT) after the first TAV replacement (TAVR) is underreported.

Metabolomic profiling of ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections - Implications for pathophysiology and biomarker discovery. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
OBJECTIVE:Our basic understanding of ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm (ATAA) pathogenesis is still very limited, hampering early diagnosis, risk prediction, and development of treatment options.

Lower incidence of new-onset severe conduction disturbances after transcatheter aortic valve implantation with bicuspid aortic valve in patients with no baseline conduction abnormality: a cross-sectional investigation in a single center in China

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2023
BackgroundWith technological advancements, the incidence of most transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)-related complications, with the exception of conduction disturbances, has decreased.

Self‐Assembled Luminescent Au(I)–Adamantylamine Coordination Polymer Needles With Thermoresponsive Optical Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled hydrophobic and red phosphorescent Au(I) coordination polymer (CP) was synthesized under mild conditions. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrated linear Au(I) chains stabilized by aurophilic and hydrogen bonding interactions.

Biological knowledge-slanted random forest approach for the classification of calcified aortic valve stenosis

open access: yesBioData Mining, 2021
Background Calcific aortic valve stenosis (CAVS) is a fatal disease and there is no pharmacological treatment to prevent the progression of CAVS. This study aims to identify genes potentially implicated with CAVS in patients with congenital bicuspid ...

Emissive Liquid Crystalline Boron C,N‐Chelates: Synthesis, Self‐assembly, and Photophysical Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Novel emissive liquid crystalline boron C,N‐chelates were prepared by integrating mesogenic units into the boron C,N‐core. Depending on the substituent at the boron, stable SmA or N mesophases were achieved while maintaining intense blue emission with excellent quantum yields (61%–100%).

Increased calcification by erythrophagocytosis in aortic valvular interstitial cells

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1469-1473, April 2025.
Abstract Background Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) progresses over time to severe aortic stenosis and eventually heart failure. Recent evidence indicates that intraleaflet haemorrhage (ILH) strongly promotes CAVD progression. However, it remains poorly understood how it mechanistically contributes to valvular calcification.

Intima-media thickness of the descending aorta in patients with bicuspid aortic valve

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cardiology: Heart & Vasculature, 2016
Objective: A bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is associated with accelerated aortic valve disease (AVD) and abnormalities in aortic elasticity. We investigated the intima-media thickness of the descending aorta (AoIMT) in patients with AVD with or without an ...

Comparative Effects of Three Microbial Starter Cultures on the Physicochemical and Sensory Quality of Fermented Sausages

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study innovatively links specific microbial compositions of commercial starter cultures to the evolution of key odorant and taste‐active amino acids, revealing the underlying mechanisms behind distinct flavor profiles. Three microbial starter cultures—Saccharomyces cerevisiae (SC), Scarlet (ST), and Roxaane LC (LC), were added to sausages,
