TAZ functions as a tumor suppressor in multiple myeloma by downregulating MYC

open access: yesBlood Advances, 2019
: Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable blood cancer that is often characterized by amplification and overexpression of the MYC oncogene. Despite efforts, direct targeting of MYC is not yet possible; therefore, alternative strategies to inhibit MYC ...

Delineating Intra-Urban Spatial Connectivity Patterns by Travel-Activities: A Case Study of Beijing, China

open access: yes, 2014
Travel activities have been widely applied to quantify spatial interactions between places, regions and nations. In this paper, we model the spatial connectivities between 652 Traffic Analysis Zones (TAZs) in Beijing by a taxi OD dataset.

Timing Mechanotransduction: Mechanically Dynamic Biomaterials Reveal the Temporal Hierarchy of YAP/TAZ Control Nodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work develops dynamically softening polyacrylamide hydrogels for time‐resolved imaging during continuous mechanical transitions. The study revealed that mechanotransduction is biphasic; YAP/TAZ inactivation is driven by early loss of the nucleocytoskeletal continuum connecting subnuclear adhesions, F‐actin, and the nuclear envelope, coupled with ...

Anion–arene adducts: C–H hydrogen bonding, anion– interaction, and carbon bonding motifs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This article summarizes experimental and theoretical evidence for the existence of four distinct binding modes for complexes of anions with charge-neutral arenes.

Hippo pathway effectors control cardiac progenitor cell fate by acting as dynamic sensors of substrate mechanics and nanostructure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Stem cell responsiveness to extracellular matrix (ECM) composition and mechanical cues has been the subject of a number of investigations so far, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying stem cell mechano-biology still need full clarification.

YAP/TAZ: An epitome of tumorigenesis

open access: yesCancer Letters
Mounting evidence has demonstrated that the transcriptional coactivators Yes-associated protein (YAP) and transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ), are the main effectors of the Hippo signal transduction pathway that is involved in multiple layered events in tumorigenesis.

Mechanostimulatory Cues Determine Intestinal Fibroblast Fate and Profibrotic Remodeling in a Physiodynamic Human Gut‐on‐a‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthy gut barrier shields underlying fibroblasts from luminal shear forces, illustrating that “good fences make good neighbors.” Barrier damage exposes fibroblasts to shear stress, inducing cell death and the emergence of stress‐adapted, profibrotic fibroblasts. Sustained shear exposure promotes the formation of stiff aggregates of mechanoadapative

Transcriptional Co-repressor Function of the Hippo Pathway Transducers YAP and TAZ

open access: yesCell Reports, 2015
YAP (yes-associated protein) and TAZ are oncogenic transcriptional co-activators downstream of the Hippo tumor-suppressor pathway. However, whether YAP and/or TAZ (YAP/TAZ) engage in transcriptional co-repression remains relatively unexplored.

Thermal fatigue and oxidation data on TAZ-8A, MAR-M 200, and Udimet 700 superalloys [PDF]

open access: yes
The fluidized bed technique was used to determine the relative thermal fatigue and oxidation resistance of three superalloys: TAZ-8A, Mar-M 200, and Udimet 700. The alloys TAZ-8A and MAR-M 200 were also tested in the directionally-solidified form.

GPCRs in CAR‐T Cell Immunotherapy: Expanding the Target Landscape and Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy faces dual challenges of target scarcity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment in solid tumors. This review highlights how G protein‐coupled receptors can serve as both novel targets to expand the therapeutic scope and functional modules to enhance CAR‐T cell efficacy.
