Pregnancy and glycemic outcomes with hybrid closed‐loop insulin delivery versus sensor‐augmented pump therapy among women with type 1 diabetes

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Objective Pregnant women with type 1 diabetes (T1D) increasingly utilize hybrid closed‐loop (HCL) pumps, but pregnancy‐specific algorithms in many countries including the United States are not available. We compared pregnancy and glycemic outcomes between those intending to use off‐label automated HCL versus manual sensor‐augmented pump ...

Strain Tuning the Kinetics of Topotactic Phase Transitions in Epitaxial Oxide Films

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2026.
We investigate the topotactic phase transition in epitaxial strontium cobaltite (SrCoOx) thin films. Our findings reveal asymmetric switching kinetics between the oxygen‐deficient SrCoO2.5 and oxygen‐rich SrCoO3 phases, driven by the epitaxial strain state.

Simplified Switching to Once‐Weekly Insulin Icodec Without an Initial One‐Time Additional Dose Versus Once‐Daily Insulin Glargine U100 in Basal Insulin‐Treated Type 2 Diabetes (ONWARDS 10): A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 7791-7801, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims ONWARDS 10 assessed switching from daily basal insulins to once‐weekly insulin icodec without a one‐time additional dose at first injection. Materials and Methods In this treat‐to‐target, open‐label, 26‐week, phase 3b trial, adults with basal‐insulin‐treated type 2 diabetes (T2D) with glycated haemoglobin [HbA1c] 7.0%–10.0% were ...

What Is a Clinically Meaningful Change in Diabetes Distress? Findings for Diabetes Care and Research From the SFDT1 Cohort

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 7905-7915, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims Diabetes distress (DD) is common and evolves heterogeneously over time. We aimed to estimate minimal clinically important differences (MCID) for the Problem Areas in Diabetes (PAID) scale and its sub‐dimensions and to identify predictors of worsening over 1 year in people with type 1 diabetes (PwT1D).

Pre‐Exercise Galactose or Lactose Reduces Glycaemic Excursions During Exercise in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes: A Randomised, Double‐Blind, Crossover Trial

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 7825-7833, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims To test whether pre‐exercise galactose and lactose reduce glycaemic excursions during exercise compared with dextrose while maintaining protection against hypoglycaemia compared with placebo in adults with Type 1 diabetes Methods In a randomised, double‐blind, 4‐condition crossover trial, 14 adults with Type 1 diabetes completed four 60 ...

Abnormal Glycaemic Fluctuations Associated With Early Microvascular Changes in the Retina and Choroid of Nondiabetic Adults

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 7864-7874, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims To evaluate the association between continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)‐derived glycaemic variability indicators and early microvascular changes of the retina and choroid in nondiabetic individuals. Materials and Methods Community‐based individuals at high risk for type 2 diabetes (T2DM) underwent detailed assessments including oral ...

Association of Time in Range and Time in Tight Range With Cardiovascular Risk Factor Exposure in Youth With Type 1 Diabetes: A Cross‐Sectional Analysis on LDL Cholesterol and Blood Pressure Data From the SWEET International Database

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 7982-7992, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims To test the hypothesis that continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) metrics are independently associated with cardiovascular risk factor (CVRF) exposure, particularly low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) and blood pressure (BP), in youth with type 1 diabetes (T1D) enrolled in the international SWEET registry. Materials and Methods This
