Tearing instability in polypropylene
Polymer, 1985Abstract Polypropylene can fail by tearing instability when the elastic contraction is greater than the plastic extension due to crack growth. Tearing instability theory developed by Paris and co-workers describes the effect of specimen geometry on the ductile fracture properties of polypropylene.

Fluid theory of tearing instabilities
Physics of Fluids, 1980A fluid theory of tearing instabilities is presented. Recently derived fluid equations, which have the feature of describing adiabatic electron dynamics more completely than the usual transport equations, are employed for this theory. The temperature gradient driven self-filamentation of a plasma in a uniform magnetic field is described.

HUMAN TEARS: GLUCOSE INSTABILITIES
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1984Using a photometric method, a comparative analysis based on 717 human tear samples was made between systematically collected non‐reflex, open eye tears and tears associated with prolonged eye closure (sleep), as well as for certain reflex provoking conditions (mild mechanical irritation, irritating vapours and osmotic imbalance).

Glenohumeral Instability and Rotator Cuff Tear
Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review, 2011The prevalence of rotator cuff tears after traumatic dislocation increases with advancing age, a likely consequence of the age-associated deterioration of the structure and mechanical properties of the tendons of the rotator cuff. These are the effective stabilizers of the glenohumeral joint, compressing the humeral head in the 3-dimensional concavity ...

Instability and Rotator Cuff Tear
2011Prevalence of rotator cuff tears after traumatic dislocation increases with advancing age, as a consequence of the age-associated deterioration of structures and mechanical properties of the tendons of the rotator cuff. These act as effective stabilizers of the joint, compressing the humeral head in the three-dimensional concavity of the glenoid. It is

Tear Breakup Dynamics: A Technique for Quantifying Tear Film Instability
Optometry and Vision Science, 2006ABSTRACT Purpose. The purpose of this study was to develop a novel, quantitative measurement of tear film breakup dynamics (TBUD) to study the phenomenon of tear breakup in dry eye and control subjects and its impact on dry eye symptoms.

Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review, 2017
Glenohumeral instability is one of the more common conditions seen by sports medicine physicians, especially in young, active athletes. The associated anatomy of the glenohumeral joint (the shallow nature of the glenoid and the increased motion it allows) make the shoulder more prone to instability events as compared with other joints.

Kinetic theory of tearing instability
The Physics of Fluids, 1975The guiding-center kinetic equation with Fokker-Planck collision term is used to study, in cylindrical geometry, a class of dissipative instabilities of which the classical tearing mode is an archetype. Variational solution of the kinetic equation obviates the use of an approximate Ohm’s law or adiabatic assumption, as used in previous studies, and it ...

Magnetohydrodynamic and Tearing Instabilities in a Tokamak
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1972The stability of a current-carrying plasma in a strong longitudinal magnetic field, such as in Tokamak type devices, against the MHD and tearing instability is investigated. The growth rates of the MHD instability are computed numerically as eigen-values of the equation of motion, for several current distributions.
