Pest categorisation of the non‐EU phytoplasmas of tuber‐forming Solanum spp.
Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of four phytoplasmas of tuber‐forming Solanum spp. known to occur only outside the EU or having a limited presence in the EU. The only tuber‐forming species of Solanum reported to be phytoplasma infected is S. tuberosum.

Design of expression cassettes using the Cry1Ba1 gene for potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) varieties
The most serious insect pest problem in the potato crop in Colombia is the lepidopteran Tecia solanivora that causes significant economic losses. In this research, we designed expression cassettes based on the cry1Ba1 gene of Bacillus thuringiensis that ...

Tecia solanivora infestation increases tuber starch accumulation in Pastusa Suprema potatoes
AbstractIn response to infestation with larvae of the Guatemalan tuber moth (Tecia solanivora), some Solanum tuberosum (potato) varieties exhibit an overcompensation response, whereby the total dry mass of uninfested tubers is increased. Here, we describe early responses, within the first few days, of T.

One of the principal problems of potato cultivation in Colombia is the Guatemalan moth Tecia solanivora, which causes damage in the field and during tuber storage. For its biological control under storage conditions, products have been developed based on the granulovirus denominated "Baculovirus Corpoica", the only one registered in Colombia.
