Fats, Fire and Bronze Age Funerary Rites: Organic Residue Analysis of Wide Horizontal Rim Vessels From Burial Contexts in Northwest Portugal
Archaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 3, Page 298-310, June 2026.ABSTRACT
This study presents the first GC‐MS–based analyses of wide horizontal rim vessels with well‐defined funerary contexts, from Middle Bronze Age Portugal (Quinta do Amorim 2 and Pego). Organic residues from two vessels revealed ruminant fats and plant oils, alongside molecular markers of heat exposure.João Vinícius Back, César Oliveira, Ana M. S. Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 10, 28 May 2026.Abstract
We report the observation of a downward terrestrial gamma‐ray flash (TGF) during the dart‐leader stage in a negative cloud‐to‐ground lightning flash. The observation was recorded by the Telescope Array Surface Detector, in conjunction with a Lightning Mapping Array, an interferometer (INTF), a fast antenna, and a high‐speed camera.N. Kieu, R. U. Journal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 5, May 2026.ABSTRACT
Vibrio cholerae inhabits phosphorus‐poor aquatic environments and host intestine, where it expresses genes regulated by the PhoB/PhoR two‐component system in response to inorganic phosphate (Pi) limitation. Macromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.This work presents a practical approach for formulating 4D printable inks that incorporates substantial fractions of low molecular weight mesogens. By blending low molecular weight diacrylate or monoacrylate constituents with a high molecular weight main‐chain macromer, the resulting mixture proves suitable for direct ink writing, enabling mechanical ...Lorena Ceamanos, María López‐Valdeolivas, Pengrong Lyu, Danqing Liu, Dirk J. American Journal of Human Biology, Volume 38, Issue 2, February 2026.ABSTRACT Objectives
Altitude shapes human morphology as highland populations must cope with cold and hypoxic environments. Although Andean highlanders have been proposed to exhibit larger and deeper ribcages, this idea is mainly based on research using disarticulated skeletal elements or non‐South American controls. Journal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 1, January 2026.Dominant tree species in western Amazonian forests show distinct functional trait combinations linked to habitat type: conservative traits in stressful habitats and greater plant size in less stressful environments. Local dominants are defined by resource conservation strategies and widespread dominants are defined by resource acquisition strategies.
