Electric field‐induced defect redistribution along a near 23° (100) tilt grain boundary in SrTiO3

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 7, July 2025.
A non‐contacting electrostatic field that was applied during thermal annealing along the interface plane of a near 23° (100) tilt grain boundary causes changes of the atomic grain boundary core structure between the two electrodes. Oxygen vacancy redistribution was found to be accommodated by disconnection movement.

Inactive “Ghost” Cells Do Not Affect Motility and Long‐Range Electron Transport in Filamentous Cable Bacteria

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2025.
Mechanisms for the creation of individual ghost cells within a cable bacterium filament. (A) Schematic overview of different stressors that can lead to cell lysis or cell death. (i) Viral particles infect cells, (ii) predatory bacteria can attach to and infect a cable bacterium filament, (iii) ciliates depict bacterivory, and (iv) mechanical stress ...

Proteomics-based investigation in C2C12 myoblast differentiation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2009
Skeletal muscle cell differentiation is a multistage process extensively studied over the years. Even if great improvements have been achieved in defining biological process underlying myogenesis, many molecular mechanisms need still to be clarified.

Characterization of the Tyranno SA4 third generation SiC fiber surface and comparison with Tyranno SA3 and HNS fibers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 22, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
Abstract While presenting similar properties, the Hi‐Nicalon Type S (HNS) and Tyranno SA3 (TSA3) SiC fibers exhibit different mechanical behaviors when used as reinforcement in SiC/SiC composites. Indeed, the HNS‐reinforced composites exhibit a pseudoductile mechanical behavior whereas the TSA3‐based composites show low ductility.

Combined grazing incidence RBS and TEM analysis of luminescent nano-SiGe/SiO2 multilayers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Multilayer structures with five periods of amorphous SiGe nanoparticles/SiO2 layers with different thickness were deposited by Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition and annealed to crystallize the SiGe nanoparticles. The use of grazing incidence RBS was
