In vivo temperature-sensitive drug release system trigged by cooling using low-melting-point microcrystalline wax

open access: yesJournal of Controlled Release, 2019
Temperature-sensitive formulations are attractive controlled-release formulations, which release an incorporated drug by changes in body temperature induced by external temperature stimulation. Recently, it has been reported that wax matrix (WM) particles composed of a low-melting-point microcrystalline wax (MCW) released only a small amount of the ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Integrating machine learning and feature analysis for predicting and managing thermal deformation in machine tools

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
This study develops a method to predict and compensate for thermal deformation in machine tools, focusing on selecting temperature-sensitive points, establishing a predictive model, and detecting temperature anomalies.

Effect of Defects on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Graphene

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
In this study, the mechanical and thermal properties of graphene were systematically investigated using molecular dynamic simulations. The effects of temperature, strain rate and defect on the mechanical properties, including Young’s modulus ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Smoothing data series by means of cubic splines: quality of approximation and introduction of a repeating spline approach [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2017
Cubic splines with equidistant spline sampling points are a common method in atmospheric science, used for the approximation of background conditions by means of filtering superimposed fluctuations from a data series.
