Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Finite temperature quantum field theory and gauge field

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1992
Abstract We study the invariance of thermo field dynamics (TFD) for equilibrium systems under local gauge transformations. We show that when restricted to a conveniently constrained subspace of thermal states, TFD has the structure of a gauge theory, the gauge vector field playing the role of the reservoir response to the system dynamics.

Metformin promotes mitochondrial integrity through AMPK‐signaling in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...

Numerical Simulation and Experimental Verification of Temperature Uniformity in a Novel Multi-temperature Thermostat

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2015
In this paper, the temperature uniformity of a self-designed novel multi-temperature thermostat with three chambers was studied. A steady-state three-dimensional numerical model based on one chamber ofthe thermostat was built to simulate its temperature ...

Heavy Quark Potential in a static and strong homogeneous magnetic field

open access: yes, 2017
We have investigated the properties of quarkonia in a thermal QCD medium in the background of strong magnetic field. For that purpose, we employ the Schwinger proper-time quark propagator in the lowest Landau level to calculate the one-loop gluon self ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Low Temperature Properties of the Random Field Potts Chain

open access: yes, 2002
The random field q-States Potts model is investigated using exact groundstates and finite-temperature transfer matrix calculations. It is found that the domain structure and the Zeeman energy of the domains resembles for general q the random field Ising ...
