A Model for High-Temperature Creep Incorporating Both Recovery and Thermally Activated Glide

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1979
A computer model of creep deformation incorporating the thermodynamics of glide and recovery is presented. The model is able to provide possible explanations for the results of stress drop experiments in which either a delay time or a sharp change in strain rate is observed.

The geometry of glide in Ni3Al at temperatures above the flow stress peak

Acta Metallurgica, 1989
At temperatures above the flow stress peak in Ni3Al the slip system is 〈110〉{001}. At higher temperatures still a second system, 〈010〉{001}, also operates. Both types of dislocation form glide loops which dissociate into 12 〈110〉 APB-linked partials and both glide loops show ranges of elastic instability.

An in situ study of prismatic glide in α titanium at low temperatures

Acta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1993
Abstract In situ experiments have been performed in two titanium ingots with different purities in a view to studying the glide mechanism of a dislocations in prismatic planes between 100 and 300 K. The observation of the jerky movement of rectilinear screw dislocations leads to the conclusion that the strain rate is controlled by the locking ...

High temperature dislocation mobility in LiF part II. Glide mobility of dislocations at high temperatures

Materials Science and Engineering, 1974
Abstract A theory for the high temperature glide mobility of dislocations in ionic crystals is developed following the thermodynamic treatment of charged dislocations by Eshelby, Newey, Pratt and Lidiard and the theory of charge cloud drag by Brown. It is proposed that the glide velocity is limited by the speed with which the “Debye - Huckel” cloud ...

Investigations on the transition from jerky to viscous glide in CuAl at elevated temperatures

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1997
A study on the transition from discontinuous (jerky) to continuous (viscous) dislocation motion in polycrystals of f.c.c. Cu 10 at.% Al is presented. This transition has been investigated by measurements of the critical flow stress. It is found to depend not only on temperature but also on strain rate.

The Operative Glide Systems in β-NiAl During High Temperature Deformations

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1971
The mechanical properties of β-NiAl, and its operative glide systems have been of interest in recent years (1-4). Strutt, Dodd, & Rowe summarize some of the main findings in a continuation of this work. The operative glide systems in β-NiAl single crystals were obtained by combined surface slip line observations with the scanning electron microscope,

Heating Performance of Zeotropic Mixture and Temperature Glide Matching with Secondary Fluid

Key Engineering Materials, 2011
In order to decrease the heat rejection pressure of pure CO2 refrigerating system and meanwhile have sustainable environmentally benefits for working fluild, several natural zeotropic CO2/Propane mixtures are applied to heat pump system to investigate the heating performance.

Precipitation of Copper Silicide on Glide Dislocations in Silicon at Low Temperature

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1993
Investigations of the precipitation of copper silicide on glide dislocations in thin Si foils are reported. Under certain conditions — existence of a sufficiently thick oxide layer on the specimen surface and copper in-diffusion in a TEM hot stage — precipitates at climbing dislocations are formed even at a very low temperature (200 °C).

Determination of Spectroscopic Temperatures and Electron Density in Rotating Gliding Arc Discharge

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2015
The spectroscopic characteristics of rotating gliding arc (RGA) discharge, codriven by a magnetic field and tangential gas flow, have been investigated by optical emission spectroscopy. In argon gas, the electron density of the atmospheric RGA plasma was measured, while the vibrotatinoal temperatures were measured in nitrogen discharge.
