TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Measuring temperature of the ice surface during its formation by using infrared instrumentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A non-destructive remote sensing technique was used to measure the surface temperature of a thin macroscopic water film flowing on a growing asymmetric ice accretion during its formation inside an icing research wind tunnel.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Enhanced Temperature Stability of Coercivity in Sintered Permanent Magnet by Substitution of Ce for Didymium

open access: yes, 2016
Effects of partial substitution of Ce for didymium (Pr-Nd alloy, abbreviated to Di) on elevated temperature magnetic properties in sintered (Di(1-x)Ce(x))(27.5)Dy3Al0.1Cu0.1Febal.B (wt.%, x = 0 similar to 0.56) magnets were investigated in this paper ...

Analysis of the Light Propagation Model of the Optical Voltage Sensor for Suppressing Unreciprocal Errors

open access: yesSensors, 2017
An improved temperature-insensitive optical voltage sensor (OVS) with a reciprocal dual-crystal sensing method is proposed. The inducing principle of OVS reciprocity degradation is expounded by taking the different temperature fields of two crystals and ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Improved design of passive wireless sensor for ultra-high temperature environment and its back-end circuit measurement system

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering
IntroductionAn improved passive wireless sensor is presented for ultra-high temperature environments, utilizing a folded Complementary Split-Ring Resonator (CSRR) structure. A dedicated back-end circuit measurement system is also developed to support the

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Temperature stability of rabies neutralizing antibodies

open access: yesJournal of Immunological Methods
Rabies serology is most importantly done to evaluate immune response following vaccine administration in patients who have been exposed to rabies or are highly likely to be. When detecting antibodies after vaccination it is best to target rabies neutralizing antibodies specifically. Clinical laboratories performing this testing are required to uphold a
