Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Effect of Ablation Material and Deuterium-tritium Ice Profile on Cryogenic Target Thermal Fields

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2020
The uniformity of deuterium-tritium (DT) ice layer plays a key role in the successful ignition of indirective inertial confinement fusion (ICF), and is closely related to the temperature field of the cryogenic target, especially the temperature ...

Uniformity of Cosmic Microwave Background as a Non-Inflationary Geometrical Effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The conventional $\Lambda$CDM cosmological model supplemented by the inflation concept describes the Universe very well. However, there are still a few concerns: new Planck data impose constraints on the shape of the inflaton potential, which exclude a ...

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Analysis of the structure arrangement on the thermal characteristics of Li‐ion battery pack in thermoelectric generator

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2020
Traditional automobile exhaust contains a large amount of thermal energy. Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) can store recovered electrical energy into battery packs and supply to vehicle‐mounted electrical equipment. A reasonable battery pack structure is

Temperature dependent photoluminescence of single CdS nanowires

open access: yes, 2006
Temperature dependent photoluminescence (PL) is used to study the electronic properties of single CdS nanowires. At low temperatures, both near-band edge (NBE) photoluminescence (PL) and spatially-localized defect-related PL are observed in many ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Plasma-sprayed self-lubricating coatings [PDF]

open access: yes
One of the most important criterion for acceptable commercial application of a multiple phase composition is uniformity and reproducibility. This means that the performance characteristics of the coat - e.g., its lubricating properties, bond strength to ...
