Stochastic energetics of non-uniform temperature systems [PDF]
We propose an energetic interpretation ofstochastic processes described by Langevin equations with non-uniform temperature. In order to avoid It -Stratonovich dilemma, we start with a Kramers equation, and derive a Fokker-Plank equation by the renormalization group method. We give a proper definition of heat for the system.

Uniform electron gas at finite temperatures [PDF]
We calculate the free energy of the quantum uniform electron gas for temperatures from near zero to 100 times the Fermi energy, approaching the classical limit. An extension of the Vashista-Singwi theory to finite temperatures and self-consistent compressibility sum rule is presented.

Temperature non-uniformity in distributed temperature sensors
A study is presented of the effects of temperature non-uniformity in a distributed temperature sensor based on the temperature dependence of Brillouin gain in an optical fibre. The form of the Brillouin gain profile for a given temperature distribution is measured and successfully modelled.

The performance of a straight type of internally finned tube (SIFT) is studied using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). It is found that a longer fin yields a larger pressure drop that is nearly proportional to the fin length.

Temperature profile on a spherical sample that is heated by laser beams in various geometries while processed in vacuum is analyzed. Sample heating by one or four laser beams was considered. An analytical expression was derived for directional sample heating cases.
