Two‐Way Shape Memory Polymer Composite Gripper for Adaptive Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A two‐way shape memory polymer (SMP) composite is developed with intrinsic shape‐changing capability driven solely by temperature, eliminating external actuation loads. Embedding the SMP in a low‐stiffness elastomeric matrix enabled reversible transformations during heating and cooling cycles.

What Does a Temporary Help Service Job Offer? Empirical suggestions from a Japanese survey [PDF]

open access: yes
The aim of this paper is to test whether or not a temporary help service (THS) job benefits workers in Japan. By applying the average treatment effect on the treated estimation and its sensitivity tests to the Japanese survey data, we obtained the ...

Gold Nanorods in Cardiac Millitissues: Assessing Mechanical and Contractile Dynamics in a Living Engineering Myocardium Model

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel platform for assessing the active mechanical behavior of living cardiac microbundles through localized nanoindentation, integrated with temperature regulation and dual‐camera imaging systems. The developed system enables quantitative evaluation of dynamic micromechanics in engineered cardiac tissues in vitro, offering ...

Temporary contracts and the dynamics of job turnover [PDF]

open access: yes
We report results indicating that job turnover is not countercyclical in general but rather reflects the inability of smooth labor adjustment through the use of temporary employment contracts.

Temporary employment and illness

open access: yes, 2013
Background: It is debated whether temporary employment compared to permanent employment entails an elevated risk of illness or not, as the empirical studies have not shown a unified picture. Since a significant part of the Swedish workforce is currently working under temporary employment contracts, it is important for public health research to pay ...

Employment consequences of restrictive permanent contracts: Evidence from Spanish labor market reforms [PDF]

open access: yes
Temporary employment contracts allowing unrestricted dismissals were introduced in Spain in 1984 and quickly came to account for most new jobs. As a result, temporary employment increased from around 10% in the mid-eighties to more than 30% in the early ...

3D Printing of Stretchable, Compressible and Conductive Porous Polyurethane for Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable porous dopamine‐polyurethane acrylate elastomer results in conductive, stretchable, and compressible structures that can be metallized in situ through catechol‐mediated silver reduction. The resulting material function as both compliant soft robot with a and strain sensors without complex assemblies, enabling fully 3D‐printed soft ...
