Plant Micropropagation and Temporary Immersion Systems

Temporary immersion systems (TIS) have been widely recognized as a promising technology for micropropagation of various plant species. The TIS provides a suitable environment for culture and allows intermittent contact of the explant with the culture medium at different immersion frequencies and aeration of the culture in each cycle.

The Use of Temporary Immersion System Double Vessel Method and Regression Tree in Orchid Seed Planting

2024 2nd International Conference on Software Engineering and Information Technology (ICoSEIT)
This proposal aims to explore the use of the Temporary Immersion System (TIS) Double Vessel and Regression Tree methods in planting orchid seeds. The TIS-DV method will be used to optimize the growth and development of orchid seeds through tissue culture.

A TEMPORARY IMMERSION SYSTEM FOR THE EFFECTIVE SHOOT REGENERATION OF HOP

Acta Horticulturae, 2009
The largest bottleneck for the genetic transformation of hop is the inefficiency of existing regeneration protocols. Successful hop transformation therefore requires large numbers of explants, is time consuming and labor intensive. We developed a fast and efficient shoot regeneration procedure for the 'US Tettnanger' cultivar, starting from green ...

Induction and Proliferation of Moringa oleifera Somatic Embryo Callus using Solid Liquid and Temporary Immersion System

International Journal of Agriculture and Biology
Moringa oleifera Lam., a promising functional food, can be propagated rapidly through somatic embryogenesis technique. This method has advantages, such as rapid seed generation, absence of a dormant phase, and bipolar cotyledons.

Orchid Micropropagation Using Temporary Immersion Systems: A Review

Temporary immersion systems (TIS) have been used for orchid micropropagation. The main advantage of TIS use for micropropagation is that the explant is periodically immersed in nutrient media, and then, the nutrient solution is drained, which allows the explant tissue to stay in air.

Proliferation of Axillary Shoots of Chestnut in Temporary Immersion Systems

Shoots from European chestnut and hybrids of European and Asian chestnuts can be efficiently proliferated in liquid medium by temporary immersion (TIS) using RITA® and Plantform™ bioreactors. The main challenges of applying TIS to these species were the lack of growth and hyperhydricity; problem solutions included the manipulation of the hormone ...

Application of a temporary immersion system in mass propagation of Phalaenopsis

2005
A temporary immersion system consisting of a series of five-litre twin glass vessels was successfully used for in vitro adventitious shoot multiplication and rooting of Phalaenopsis. Highest shoot multiplication rate of 25.4 was achieved after twelve weeks when eight immersions per day, of ten minutes each, were used. Fresh medium containing 0.5 mg l−1

Conclusions and Perspectives on Plant Micropropagation in Temporary Immersion Systems

In vitro propagation protocols that include temporary immersion systems are available for the most economically important plant species. However, these have not been established yet for multiple species. Having protocols validated by the scientific community guarantees the success of the mass production of commercial propagules.

Use of Temporary Immersion Systems in the Establishment of Biofactories

Companies dedicated to the large-scale propagation of plant species are known as biofactories or agricultural biotechnology companies. Globally, there are a large number of biofactories (large-scale production) or plant tissue culture laboratories (small-scale production) in charge of supplying commercial propagules of plants of economic interest. Each

THE TEMPORARY IMMERSION SYSTEM (T.I.S.) FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF MICROPROPAGATION OF ORNAMENTAL PLANTS

Acta Horticulturae, 2005
The clonal propagation through tissue culture techniques has limitations in the flower industry due to the requirementof highly skilled manual labour and to the limitation of automatia. The growth in liquid medium is an interesting alternative that might provide opportunities only if it will be possible to control or avoid the tissue hyperhydration ...
