Temporary immersion systems in plant micropropagation [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 2002
Temporary immersion systems for plant micropropagation have been described and grouped into 4 categories according to operation: tilting and rocker machines; complete immersion of plant material and renewal of the nutrient medium; partial immersion and a liquid nutrient renewal mechanism; complete immersion by pneumatic driven transfer of liquid medium

Sugarcane shoot formation in an improved temporary immersion system

open access: yesPlant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 1998
A new protocol was established for sugarcane cv. C-1051-73 shoot formation in a temporary immersion system. The two-step protocol involves shoot formation in 50 ml of culture medium per explant and 1.0 mg l-1 paclobutrazol for 30 days followed by shoot elongation by exposure to 1.0 mg l-1 gibberellic acid for 15 days.

Evaluation of a new vessel system based on temporary immersion system for micropropagation

Scientia Horticulturae, 2014
a b s t r a c t The aim of this study was to evaluate a new culture vessel Plantform bioreactor, based on the temporary immersion system principle for micropropagation of Digitalis lutea × purpurea, Echinacea purpurea and Rubus idaeus. The multiplication ratio and shoot quality in bioreactor were either similar to or better than these on agar medium ...

Optimization of plantain (Musa AAB) micropropagation by temporary immersion system

Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 2005
The positive and reliable effect of temporary immersion systems on in vitroshoot proliferation was already proved for different plant genera and it is now presented as an alternative for plantain micropropagation. Some culture parameters affecting the efficiency of the twin flasks system or temporary immersion bioreactor (Escalona et al., 1999) were ...

Temporary immersion systems (TISs): A comprehensive review

Journal of Biotechnology, 2022
The temporary immersion systems (TISs) have been widely used in plant biotechnology. TISs have different advantages from the point of micropropagation and production of secondary metabolites over other continuous liquid-phase bioreactors. The current work presents the structure, operation mode, configuration type, and micropropagation or secondary ...
