Interactions, structure and properties in poly(lactic acid)/thermoplastic polymer blends [PDF]
Blends were prepared from poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and three thermoplastics, polystyrene (PS), polycarbonate (PC) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). Rheological and mechanical properties, structure and component interactions were determined by various ...

Tensile properties of orthodontic elastomeric ligatures
Tensile properties of elastomeric ligatures become important when efficiency of orthodontic appliances is considered. The aim of this study was to compare tensile strength, extension to tensile strength, toughness and modulus of elasticity of elastomeric ligatures in both the as--received condition and after 28 days of immersion in the simulated oral ...

The Effect on Tensile Property of Surface Treatment of MWNTs on MWNTs/PI Films
We discussed the effects of MWNTs surface treatments on MWNTs/PI hybrid films in tensile strength. Used by ultrasonic, mixed acid and Fenton three methods to treat MWNTs,then through in-situ polymerization and heat imidization to prepare MWNTs/PI hybrid ...

A technique for the measurement of reinforcement fibre tensile strength at sub-millimetre gauge lengths [PDF]
The strength of composite reinforcement fibres is normally measured on samples of much greater length than the actual residual fibre lengths found in many composite materials.

Tensile Properties of Nanosilica/Epoxy Nanocomposites
AbstractThe effect of nanosilica on the tensile stress-strain response of Epikote 828 epoxy polymer was studied. A 40 wt% nanosilica/epoxy masterbatch was used to prepare a series of nanocomposites with 5–25 wt% nanosilica content. Static uniaxial tensile tests were conducted to investigate the tensile stress–strain response and tensile properties of ...

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.
