Treatment of transverse patella fractures by cannulated screws with tension band compared with modified tension band wiring

open access: yesInternational Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences, 2020
Objective: To analyze and compare the results of modified tension band wiring and cannulated screws with tension band wiring concerning bony union, post-operative complications, range of movements of knee and time of recovery and compare both the modalities. Design: Prospective randomized control trial.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Comparison of outcomes of osteosynthesis in type II accessory navicular by variable fixation methods

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics, 2018
Category: Midfoot/Forefoot Introduction/Purpose: To compare the outcomes of fixation methods for osteosynthesis of a type II symptomatic accessory navicular between screw and tension band wiring. Methods: Forty-four patients (mean age, 29.2 years; range,

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Distal Femoral Hemiepiphysiodesis with Tension Band Plating in the Management of Idiopathic Genu Valgum; Long-Term Outcome [PDF]

open access: yesThe Egyptian Orthopaedic Journal
Background: Genu valgum is a common coronal plane malalignment in children that often resolves spontaneously during early growth. However, in cases where the deformity persists beyond physiologic limits intervention becomes necessary.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Use of Sutures as Kirschner Wire and Tensionband Wire for Olecranon Fractures: A Technical Note

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2014
Open reduction and internal fixation using tension-band wires for displaced olecranon fractures enables restoration of extensor function. We report on 3 elderly patients with a displaced olecranon fracture who underwent open reduction and internal ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.
