Position and role of tension wood in trees - Case study: Eucalypts [PDF]
One-year seedlings of five species of eucalypt: E. camaldulensis, E. microtheca, E. viminalis, E. globulus and E. gunnii were treated for 14 weeks in growth season, tilting a branch to c. 60° in every successful ones.

On the detachment of the gelatinous layer in tension wood fiber [PDF]
The detachment of the gelatinous layer (G-layer), often observed on microtome cross sections, has led some authors to believe that the G-layer cannot act as the driving force of longitudinal shrinkage in tension wood. The aim of this study was to observe the detachment of the G-layer along fibers.

SHRINKAGE OF THE GELATINOUS LAYER OF POPLAR AND BEECH TENSION WOOD [PDF]
Macroscopic longitudinal shrinkage of beech and poplar tension wood is higher than in normal wood. This shrinkage is the result of mechanical interactions of cell wall layers. SEM observation of cut, dried surfaces showed that longitudinal shrinkage is much greater in the gelatinous layer than in other layers.

The effect of drying intensity and moisture content on longitudinal permeability of poplar tension and normal wood (populus nigra ) [PDF]
The longitudinal gas permeability of tension wood and normal wood of Populus nigra dried by two different drying conditions was measured. Board specimens were dried under mild conditions (50ºC, and ٪63 relative humidity) to reach ٪11.8 MC, and under ...

STADY OF SURFACE TENSION OF MODIFIED WOOD
The study of the surface tension of wood of various tree species impregnated with used sunflower oil was carried out. Samples of birch, pine and linden wood were used for oil treatment. Impregnation of wood materials was carried out by the method of “hot-cold baths”. As an impregnating material, used refined fryer oil was used.

Distribution of Vessels in Tension Wood and Its Correlation with Lignin Composition
The anatomical properties of tension wood were investigated for number and diameter of vessel and its correlation with lignin composition. Reaction wood sample was taken from the leaning stem of mindi (Melia azedarach).

Structural Characteristics of Reaction Tissue in Plants
To maintain or adjust posture under the challenges of gravity and increased self-weight, or the effects of light, snow, and slope, plants have the ability to develop a special type of tissue called reaction tissue.
