A review of the world fauna of Tenuipalpidae (Acarina: Tetranychoidea)
Oriental Insects, 1984Abstract The false spider mites or Tenuipalpidae are plant feeders of considerable economic importance. Some of the species are host specific but the majority of them are polyphagous and have a wide host range. Quite a number of them have been found to be serious pests of fruit trees, cultivated crops and vegetables.

External mouthpart morphology in the Tenuipalpidae (Tetranychoidea): Raoiella a case study
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2012The use of low-temperature scanning electron microscopy (LTSEM) to study external mouthpart morphology in the Tenuipalpidae, in particular the genus Raoiella, has brought some aspects of the mechanics of feeding in this group into question. In addition, an LTSEM study on the specialized feeding behaviour of Raoiella indica Hirst

Raoiella indica (Acari: Tenuipalpidae): an exploding mite pest in the neotropics
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2012Major infestations of the flat mite species Raoiella indica Hirst affecting bananas, palms and other ornamental plants have been reported from the Caribbean islands, Mexico, FL (USA), Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil. Specimens from these localities were examined using traditional light microscopy and low-temperature scanning electron microscopy ...

The Tenuipalpidae: an under-explored family of plant-feeding mites
Systematic and Applied Acarology, 2008The basic body structure of the Tenuipalpidae, or false spider, mites is discussed, along with morphological characters used for genus and species determination. The biology of these plant feeding mites is reviewed, including reproductive modes, dispersal and low chromosome number.
