Analytical Terahertz Spectroscopy
Recent progress in analytical terahertz (THz) spectroscopy is reviewed with illustrative examples showing that it is an effective method for detecting and identifying intermolecular interactions in chemical compounds, such as hydrogen bonds. The unique and characteristic properties of THz waves, their significance to both science and industry, and the ...

Developing efficient and robust terahertz (THz) sources is of incessant interest in the THz community for their wide applications. With successive effort in past decades, numerous groups have achieved THz wave generation from solids, gases, and plasmas. However, liquid, especially liquid water has never been demonstrated as a THz source.

Analysis of a narrowband terahertz signal generated by a unitravelling carrier photodiode coupled with a dual-mode semiconductor Fabry–Pérot laser [PDF]
A narrowband terahertz signal generated by a unitravelling carrier photodiode (UTC-PD) interfaced with a dual-mode Fabry–Pérot laser diode is demonstrated.

Contrast Enhancement for Topographic Imaging in Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy
The influence of the axial pinhole position in a confocal microscope in terms of the contrast of the image is analyzed. The pinhole displacement method is introduced which allows to increase the contrast for topographic imaging.

Counterpropagating frequency mixing with terahertz waves in diamond [PDF]
Frequency conversion by means of Kerr-nonlinearity is one of the most common and exploited nonlinear optical processes in the UV, visible, IR and Mid-IR spectral regions.

Typical lenses suffer from Fresnel reflections at their surfaces, reducing the transmitted power and leading to interference phenomena. While antireflection coatings can efficiently suppress these reflections for a small frequency window, broadband antireflection coatings remain challenging.

Terahertz Nanofocusing with Cantilevered Terahertz-Resonant Antenna Tips [PDF]
We developed THz-resonant scanning probe tips, yielding strongly enhanced and nanoscale confined THz near fields at their tip apex. The tips with length in the order of the THz wavelength (λ = 96.5 μm) were fabricated by focused ion beam (FIB) machining and attached to standard atomic force microscopy (AFM) cantilevers.
