A heterogeneous III‐V/SiN platform for lasers at 800 nm is realized using the micro‐transfer printing method. Efficient GaAs gain sections are directly butt‐coupled to SiN waveguides, enabling continuous‐wave and mode‐locked extended‐cavity lasers. The mode‐locked lasers generate highly stable pulse trains with repetition rates up to 9.2 GHz and a ...

Photonic neural networks are emerging as a powerful tool for analyzing light. The article reports a photonic deep random neural network that performs single‐shot low‐latency measurements of the state and degree of polarization with high accuracy. Using only a stack of glass diffusers on top of a small camera sensor, this neuromorphic polarization ...

Pulse Generation by On‐Chip Dispersion Compensation at 8 µm Wavelength
This work demonstrates on‐chip pulse generation at 8 μm$\mathrm{\mu}\mathrm{m}$ using chirped Bragg gratings in SiGe graded‐index photonic circuits to compensate the quadratic phase of quantum cascade laser frequency combs. With this approach pulses as short as 1.39 ps were produced, close to the transform limit, representing a key step toward compact,

Terahertz Laser Frequency Combs
By using a carefully designed and fabricated integrated dispersion compensator, we were able to develop high-power laser frequency combs at THz, which will enable the high resolution (~kHz) and S/N ratios of laser spectroscopy, the broadband capabilities of FTIR (>1 THz), all with no mechanical moving parts. Article not available.

Photonic Systolic Array for All‐Optical Matrix–Matrix Multiplication
A photonic systolic array is introduced, offering extreme parallelism in matrix‐matrix multiplication based on the synchronized movement of optical pulses along a crossbar array. Optical pulses traveling in perpendicular directions meet at freeform‐designed multiply‐accumulate units, each tailored to generate two signals whose intensity difference ...

Laser Stabilized to a Fiber Interferometer With Close‐To‐Zero Temperature Sensitivity
A laser stabilized to a hollow‐core fibre interferometer is presented. The interferometer is designed to have near‐zero temperature phase‐sensitivity. Laser stabilized to this interferometer put in a non‐vacuum environment achieves ±550 kHz frequency variation over 100 h and an Allan deviation of 2 × 10−14τ, which is comparable to miniature ULE ...

Mode‐Locked Pulse Generation in Plasmonic Lattices
The plasmonic superlattices overlaid with optically pumped organic molecules produce multimode lasing due to mid‐range radiative coupling (MR‐RC, lambda) and long‐range radiative coupling (LR‐RC, 10 lambda). Right: The mode locking emerges spontaneously due to the shared excited state molecular populations which may emit photons to various different ...

Highly efficient terahertz dark-field imaging system with 3D-printed components
Non-destructive testing and evaluation of targets with low contrast and sub-wavelength features tends to be challenging. By illuminating the target off-axis, dark-field imaging techniques can resolve diffracted or scattered features that are typically ...
