Pluripotent teratocarcinoma-thymus somatic cell hybrids

Cell, 1976
We have produced a series of somatic cell hybrids by fusing pluripotent PCC4aza1 embryonal carcinoma ("teretocarcinoma") cells with thymocytes from young adult mice. When these hybrids form tumors in nu/nu or syngeneic mice, all the tumors contain a range of differentiated tissues, as well as embryonal carcinoma-like tissues. Some of the tumors produce

TERATOCARCINOMA IN OVOTESTIS

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, 2021
Ovotestis refers to the presence of a gonad with histological existence of both ovaian follicles and Testicular tubular elements; this condition is labelled as True hermaphroditism. The gonads may be ovotestis bilateral or they may be ovary or testis on one side and an ovotestis on the other.

Human teratocarcinomas

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Reviews on Cancer, 1988
Teratocarcinomas are one of the commonest forms of cancer in young adult men. Cell lines derived from these tumors, and particularly the cell lines composed of their embryonal carcinoma (EC) stem cells, may provide useful information concerning the development and subsequent pathology of teratocarcinomas in humans.

Teratocarcinoma of the Posterior Mediastinum

JAMA, 1961
TERATOMAS of the chest, while more frequently seen in children than in adults, are not particularly common and, when found, are usually located in the anterior mediastinum. The presenting symptoms of such tumors are largely referable to the respiratory tract. These tumors are usually benign.

Progression in Teratocarcinomas

1991
One of the joys of preparing this paper was the necessity of rereviewing the elegant work of Leslie Foulds (1969), Harry Greene (1951), and Jacob Furth (1953), and of recalling many pleasant and stimulating discussions with each of them. Foulds studied solid tumors, primarily adenocarcinomas of the breast, and his definition of progression as the ...

Extragonadal Teratocarcinoma in Chimeric Mice

Veterinary Pathology, 1999
Chimeric mice often are created through the genetic manipulation of the mouse embryo in the process of developing animal models of disease. These mice have variable percentages of their somatic and germ cells derived from the donor embryonic stem cells and host blastocysts.

Teratocarcinomas and Mammalian Embryogenesis

Science, 1980
In the last decade there has emerged an appreciation of the remarkable similarity between the cells that give rise to teratocarcinomas in mice and the cells that give rise to the developing mouse embryo. The resemblance is so close that in certain instances the tumor stem cells can join with their embryonic counterparts and develop into a completely ...
