Luminescent glasses in art [PDF]

open access: yes
In this study the application of luminescent glasses under UV light in artworks is explored. Several lanthanide oxides were used in the glass composition to obtain different colours.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Implementing Defects for Ratiometric Luminescence Thermometry

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
In luminescence thermometry enabling temperature reading at a distance, an important challenge is to propose new solutions that open measuring and material possibilities.

Measurements of mechanical Q in levitated paramagnetic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Thermal noise from test masses, arising both from internal noise in the test mass material and from losses in the suspension wires and their attachments, is a significant factor limiting sensitivity of interferometric gravity-wave detectors.

Scandium and terbium radionuclides for radiotheranostics: current state of development towards clinical application

open access: yesBritish Journal of Radiology, 2018
Currently, different radiometals are in use for imaging and therapy in nuclear medicine: 68Ga and 111In are examples of nuclides for positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), respectively, while 177Lu and ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

On the Quenching Mechanism of Ce, Tb Luminescence and Scintillation in Compositionally Disordered (Gd, Y, Yb)3Al2Ga3O12 Garnet Ceramics

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Two series of (Gd, Y, Yb)3Al2Ga3O12 quintuple compounds with a garnet structure and solely doped with Ce and Tb were prepared in the form of ceramics by sintering in oxygen at 1600 °C for two hours and studied for the interaction of activator ions with ...

Decay time characteristics of La2O2S:Eu and La2O2S:Tb for use within an optical sensor for human skin temperature measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We focus on the development of a remote temperature sensing technology, i.e., an optical laser-based sensor, using thermographic phosphors for medical applications, particularly within an electromagnetically hostile magnetic resonance imaging (MRI ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
