Beyond the classroom: The transformative experience of short rural immersion programs for health professional students: A narrative review. [PDF]

open access: yesMed Educ
Abstract Background Rural areas house nearly half the global population yet face a significant shortage of skilled health professionals, exacerbating health inequities. Short‐term rural immersion programs offer a cost‐effective approach to exposing health professional students to the unique challenges of rural healthcare. Transformative learning theory

Effect of spermidine intake on overload-induced skeletal muscle hypertrophy in male mice. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Rep
Abstract Skeletal muscles exhibit high plasticity, such as overload‐induced hypertrophy or immobilization‐induced atrophy. During sports, skeletal muscle hypertrophy is induced by training to improve performance. Spermidine is a type of polyamine and oral intake of spermidine exerts many beneficial effects on health through various mechanisms, such as ...

Preclinical assessment of the selective androgen receptor modulator RAD140 to increase muscle mass and bone mineral density. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Rep
Animals received a FO surgery and a contralateral sham surgery as a control. The effects of RAD 140 treatment were extensively evaluated for functional changes at the end of the 14‐day study. Abstract Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) are important hypertrophic molecules that are potential treatments for many types of myopathy and ...

Amazonian Activism for European Museum Audiences: Critical Reflections on the Development of an “Amazonia” Exhibition at the National Museum of World Cultures, the Netherlands

open access: yesCurator: The Museum Journal, Volume 66, Issue 2, Page 277-295, April 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper describes and expands on the discussions held at a symposium at the Research Center for Material Culture in the Netherlands in February 2020, which was held as part of the planning of an upcoming “Amazonia” exhibition to be curated at that institution by some of the authors.

Mitochondrial fusion‐ and fission‐related protein expression in the regulation of skeletal muscle mass

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 10, Issue 8, April 2022., 2022
In this study, we explored the role of mitochondrial dynamics‐related proteins, especially those involved in fission and fusion of the mitochondria, on muscle mass regulation in the context of hypertrophy and atrophy. To this end, we established a rat model of muscle hypertrophy using plantaris muscle overload with synergist ablation and a rat model of

Evidence of myomiR regulation of the pentose phosphate pathway during mechanical load‐induced hypertrophy

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 9, Issue 23, December 2021., 2021
During rest, myomiR‐1 levels are high resulting in the repression of Glucose‐6‐Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6pdx). Mechanical overload (MOV) results in the decrease of myomiR‐1, and enhanced levels of G6pdx causing an increase in the activation of the pentose phosphate pathways (PPP).

Picrosirius‐Polarization Method for Collagen Fiber Detection in Tendons: A Mini‐Review

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 13, Issue 3, Page 701-707, May 2021., 2021
Although the structure and composition of collagen have been studied by polarized light microscopy since the early 19th century, many studies and reviews have paid little or no attention to the morphological problems of histopathological diagnosis. The morphology of collagen fibers is critical in guiding mechanical and biological properties in both ...

Global analysis reveals an environmentally driven latitudinal pattern in mushroom size across fungal species

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 24, Issue 4, Page 658-667, April 2021., 2021
Knowledge about the pattern and the underlying mechanisms of fungal traits on global scale is scarce. We demonstrate that fruit body size of mushroom forming fungi show a hump‐shaped pattern with distance to the equator and suggest ressource availability and thermoregulation as the underlying mechanism.

Projektovanje gledališta u sportskom objektu [PDF]

open access: yesSportLogia, 2018
Gledališta je važan element za pravilnu percepciju događaja na sportskom terenu. Veliki broj elemenata utiču na kvalitet gledališta: sagledlјivost sportskog terena, maksimalne/minimalne distance sagledavanja, brzina i veličina lopte, itd.
