Energy Harvester Based on Mechanical Impacts of an Oscillating Rod on Piezoelectric Transducers

open access: yesClean Technologies
Energy harvesting is a clean technique for obtaining electrical energy from environmental energy. Mechanical vibrations are an energy source that can be used to produce electricity using piezoelectric energy harvesters.

KU80 suppresses endonuclease G activity to preserve genomic integrity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Under normal conditions, EndoG remains restricted to mitochondria and the genome remains intact. When KU80 is absent, EndoG translocates into the nucleus, where it promotes DNA fragmentation and genomic instability. Thus, this work highlights the importance of KU80 in tightly controlling EndoG localization to preserve genome stability.

VEGF‐Positive Mass‐Forming Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma: New Subtype Based on Radiological and Molecular Pathological Analysis

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Radiological and molecular pathological investigation of hypervascular intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, typically a hypovascular tumor, revealed high VEGF expression, an increase in tumor‐associated arterial vessels, and a strong correlation with favorable prognosis.

Advice and Information About Toothbrushing as Available on Websites of Professional Dental Care Associations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dental Hygiene, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim This study aimed to assess the online advice and information about toothbrushing provided by professional dental care associations (PDCAs) in English‐speaking countries. Material and Methods PDCAs are national organisations of dentists and dental hygienists.

Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Management of Alopecia Areata: An Asia‐Pacific Modified Delphi Expert Panel Recommendations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
A panel of 18 dermatologists participated in a three‐round Delphi‐based consensus process to generate a standardized framework for the diagnosis and management of alopecia areata (AA) in Asia Pacific. Recommendations focus on practicality and clinical relevance within the regional context.

Chronic thermal stress affects growth, liver morphology and molecular responses but allows recovery at optimal temperature in juvenile zebrafish (Danio rerio)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Climate‐driven aquatic heatwaves pose an increasing threat to fish populations by inducing prolonged thermal stress. However, the resilience of teleosts to chronic heat exposure and their capacity for recovery remains poorly understood. This study investigated the effects of chronic high‐temperature exposure on juvenile zebrafish (Danio rerio).

Development and Validation of a Viability RT‐qPCR Assay for Detecting Infectious Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) is a contagious pathogen associated with significant mortality and economic losses in freshwater aquaculture. Although reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT‐qPCR) enables rapid detection, it does not distinguish between infectious and non‐infectious viral particles, which may lead to overestimation of ...

Sea Lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) Harbour Putative Fish Pathogens: Insights From Illumina and Nanopore Sequencing

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ectoparasites that penetrate host skin can act as biological or mechanical vectors for pathogens and, in some cases, serve as reservoirs. Crustacean ectoparasites of fish are potential vectors of pathogens, which is especially relevant for obligate pathogens (e.g., Aeromonas salmonicida) with limited seawater survival. Sea lice (Lepeophtheirus

Integrative taxonomy supports DNA barcoding in revealing an abundant cryptic species in the United States Coastal Plain

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
We present the most densely sampled phylogeny of Carex section Lupulinae to date (107 specimens) and describe herein a new cryptic species for science from the southern United States, which is locally abundant and found in well‐explored and densely populated areas. Combining DNA sequences with morphometric data obtained from 299 samples, we Demonstrate
