Tests, Test Scores, and Constructs
Educational Psychologist, 2018In the service of educational accountability, student achievement tests are being used to measure constructs quite unlike those envisioned by test developers. Scores are compared to cut points to create classifications like “proficient”; scores are combined over time to measure growth; student scores are aggregated to measure the effectiveness of ...

Tests of Matrix Structure for Construct Validation
Psychometrika, 2019Psychologists and other behavioral scientists are frequently interested in whether a questionnaire measures a latent construct. Attempts to address this issue are referred to as construct validation. We describe and extend nonparametric hypothesis testing procedures to assess matrix structures, which can be used for construct validation.

2005
Optimal test construction deals with automated assembly of tests for educational and psychological measurement. Items are selected from an item bank to meet a predefined set of test specifications. Several models for optimal test construction are presented, and two algorithms for optimal test assembly are discussed.

Construction and test of modules of the CHORUS calorimeter
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1994Abstract The CHORUS Collaboration is presently building a new detector for the search of ν μ - ν τ oscillations in the CERN neutrino beam, the experiment being sensitive to a mixing angle an order of magnitude smaller than the present limit. The basic components of the CHORUS “hybrid” detector are an active target made of nuclear emulsions,

CONSTRUCTING CLASSROOM ACHIEVEMENT TESTS
Nurse Educator, 1978The primary criterion of a good classroom assessment instrument is that it reflect the proposed learning objectives. Consequently, defining objectives becomes the first step in evaluation. Without objectives, instructors find themselves teaching one thing and testing for another.

A Constructive Approach to Testing Model Transformations
2010This paper concerns a formal encoding of the Object Management Group's Complete Meta-Object Facility (CMOF) in order to provide a more trustworthy software development lifecycle for Model Driven Architecture (MDA). We show how a form of constructive logic can be used to provide a uniform semantics of metamodels, model transformation specifications ...

Construct Validity and Construct Similarity: Methods for Use in Test Development and Test Validation
Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1986A procedure is suggested for test development and construct validation based on a theory about the criterion performance. The procedure involves building a criterion test and testing its fit to the theory by experimental or correlational methods, and assessing the construct validity of the desired operational test in terms of its similarity to the ...
