Longitudinal measurement of growth in vocabulary size using Rasch-based test equating

open access: yesLanguage Testing in Asia, 2022
The purpose of this study is to equate and further validate three forms of the vocabulary size test (VST) created by Aizawa and Mochizuki (2010). These three forms, VST 1, 2, and 3, were administered to a cohort of 189 high school students ranging in age

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Is pseudo-equivalent groups equating via minimum discriminant information adjustment effective? Evidence from simulation and real data

open access: yesFrontiers in Education
The traditional way to linking different forms of test typically uses common (or randomly equivalent) examinees or items. When common examinees or items are unavailable due to test properties or administrative restrictions, equating with pseudo ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Equational axioms of test algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We have axiomatized test algebra equations and achieved a finite equational axiomatization relative to Kleene algebra. The previous section showed that the Kleene algebra component cannot be replaced by a finite set of test algebra equations.

A TEST OF THE NULL EQUATION FOR FUNCTIONAL ANTAGONISM [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, 1981
The quantitative model for functional antagonism and synergism has been tested by studying its ability to fit data obtained from the functional antagonism of (−)‐isoprenaline by muscarinic agonists on guinea‐pig isolated atria. The general form of the null equation has been shown to fit the experimental curves satisfactorily.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
