Transdermal evaluation of caffeine in different formulations and excipients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: The stratum corneum(SC) forms adifficultphysical barrier fordrugs to pass through the skin. Several strategieswere developed to overcome this barrier.Optimization of topical drug formulations by selected excipients may facilitate the ...

The Evolving Landscape of Immunotoxicity: Charting Mechanisms and Future Strategies for Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Adverse Events

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has significantly improved the efficacy of cancer therapy, but their associated immune‐related adverse events (irAEs) can severely compromise treatment safety. This review systematically summarizes the core mechanisms underlying irAEs, which include multi‐organ damage resulting from T‐cell ...

Interplay Between Sex and Cytosine‐Adenine‐Guanine‐Age Product Score in Huntington's Disease: Clinical and Neuroimaging Perspectives

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder caused by a cytosine‐adenine‐guanine (CAG) repeat expansion in the huntingtin gene. The disease exhibits sex‐related differences in symptomatology and disease progression, but the effect on brain structural biomarkers and the interaction between sex and CAG‐age ...

Extending Color Psychology to the Personality Realm: Interpersonal Hostility Varies by Red Preferences and Perceptual Biases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The color psychology literature has made a convincing case that color is not just about aesthetics, but also about meaning. This work has involved situational manipulations of color, rendering it uncertain as to whether color-meaning associations can be ...

Development of a physiologically‐based pharmacokinetic model for Ritonavir characterizing exposure and drug interaction potential at both acute and steady‐state conditions

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 523-539, March 2025.
Abstract Ritonavir (RTV) is a potent CYP3A inhibitor that is widely used as a pharmacokinetic (PK) enhancer to increase exposure to select protease inhibitors. However, as a strong and complex perpetrator of CYP3A interactions, RTV can also enhance the exposure of other co‐administered CYP3A substrates, potentially causing toxicity.

Changes in women’s facial skin color over the ovulatory cycle are not detectable by the human visual system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Human ovulation is not advertised, as it is in several primate species, by conspicuous sexual swellings. However, there is increasing evidence that the attractiveness of women’s body odor, voice, and facial appearance peak during the fertile phase of ...

An Open‐Source Framework for Virtual Bioequivalence Modeling and Clinical Trial Design

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To establish bioequivalence (BE) of a generic test formulation with respect to a reference listed drug, it is necessary to demonstrate a comparable rate and extent to which active ingredients reach the site of action. To decrease unnecessary human testing and simulate scenarios involving specific populations or challenges with recruitment or ...

A Population Pharmacokinetic Approach to Understand the Effect of Efavirenz on CYP3A Activity in Healthy Volunteers Using Midazolam as a Probe

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Efavirenz induces and inhibits multiple drug‐metabolizing enzymes, contributing to significant drug–drug interactions. This study quantified the impact of multiple doses of efavirenz on CYP3A activity via midazolam metabolism using a population pharmacokinetic approach.

Women’s self-rated attraction to male faces does not correspond with physiological arousal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
There has been little work to determine whether attractiveness ratings of faces correspond to sexual or more general attraction. We tested whether a measure of women’s physiological arousal (pupil diameter change) was correlated with ratings of men’s ...
