Immune Consequences of Metabolic Syndrome and Its Treatment: A Cytokine Perspective

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from individuals with metabolic syndrome (MetS) who were not using glucose‐and/or lipid lowering medication (GLLM) exhibited a broader cytokine production profile after in vitro antigen‐specific stimulation than PBMCs from individuals with MetS using such medications and from healthy donors.

Autonomic nervous system dysfunction predicts poor prognosis in patients with mild to moderate tetanus

Background Autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction is present in up to one third of patients with tetanus. The prognostic value of ANS dysfunction is known in severe tetanus but its value is not well established in mild to moderate tetanus.

Tetanus Toxoid in Prophylaxis against Tetanus

Ramon1 proposed the use of tetanus toxoid (anatoxin) for immunization against tetanus. He prepared the toxoid by adding from 3 to 4 cc. of formaldehyde to a liter of tetanus toxin, and then placing the mixture in an incubator at 37 C. for four weeks.
