Hypersensitivity to tetanus toxoid [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1973
Abstract A high incidence of cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions to tetanus toxoid, 63 per cent immediate, 32 per cent Arthus type, and 74 per cent delayed reactions, were found in 70 tetanus-immunized individuals who had no history of clinical hypersensitivity to tetanus toxoid.

Adverse Reactions to Tetanus Toxoid [PDF]

open access: possibleJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1982
A retrospective review of 740 charts of patients with a history of adverse reaction to tetanus toxoid immunization was undertaken. The most common reactions, by history, were local edema and tenderness (33%), fever (15%), and anaphylactoid response (33%).

The Immunopurification of Tetanus Toxoid

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1974
Summary. The isolation of tetanus toxoid by immunosorption chromatography is described. The immunosorbent, a polymerized horse antitoxin, was used repeatedly with little loss in capacity and recoveries of toxoid of > 90% were achieved. In terms of specific antigenic activity, immunopurified tetanus toxoid is purer than that purified by conventional

PROTAMINE TETANUS TOXOID

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1950
A NUMBER of reports dealing with reactions following immunization against tetanus have appeared in recent years. 1 The elimination of Witte's® peptone from the medium in which the bacillus is grown seemed to reduce the frequency of disturbing reactions.

Allergy to tetanus toxoid vaccine

Allergy, 2001
. IGE-MEDIATED hypersensitivity reactions to tetanus toxoid (TT) vaccine are very rare (1/1 000 000) (1); nevertheless, physicians must be prepared to deal with them when administering this agent. We report four cases of IgE-mediated adverse reactions to TT vaccine, as documented by positive serum IgE antibodies to TT and, in two cases also, by a ...

Comparison of the morbidity of tetanus toxoid boosters with tetanus-diphtheria toxoid boosters

Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1985
A double-blind randomized trial was performed to compare the subjective morbidity of tetanus toxoid (T) with that of tetanus-diphtheria toxoid (Td). Symptoms occurred in 46 (48%) of 93 patients who received T, and in 75 of 100 patients who received Td (chi 2 = 12.3; P less than .001).

Tetanus toxoid and congenital abnormalities

International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1999
AbstractObjective: To study the human teratogenic potential of tetanus vaccination during pregnancy. Methods: Pair analysis of cases with congenital abnormalities and matched healthy controls was performed in the large population‐based dataset of the Hungarian Case–Control Surveillance of Congenital Abnormalities, 1980–1994. Results: Of 35 727 pregnant

Nationwide Tetanus Toxoid Immunization

JAMA, 1962
THE THREAT of tetanus, with its high morbidity and mortality, is ever present. In these days of numerous automobile collisions, burns, the occasional airplane crash, and other accidents, deep wounds occur in which tetanus toxin can be produced. In addition to such nonmilitary accidents, there is now the fearful possibility of nuclear warfare with many ...

Tetanus Toxoid Boosters

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1978
To the Editor.— I would like to respond to the question regarding the Arthus phenomenon following immunization with diphtheria-pertussin-tetanus (DPT) in the QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS section (238:2307, 1977). As noted by Zack Haddad, MD, the incidence of the Arthus-type response diminished when the interval between tetanus toxoid boosters increased.

Neurologic Complications of Tetanus Toxoid

Archives of Neurology, 1983
To the Editor. —We wish to respond to the letter by Gerald M. Fenichel, MD (Archives1983;40:390) concerning "Polyradiculoneuritis Secondary to Immunization With Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids" (Archives1983;40:56-57). In our article, we described a young man in whom polyradiculoneuritis developed three days after immunization with tetanus and ...
