EXPERIMENTAL TESTING OF AN IN VIVO METHOD OF PHOTOTOXICITY EVALUATION

open access: yesРегуляторные исследования и экспертиза лекарственных средств, 2018
At present all new medicinal products and cosmetics that absorb medium-wavelength UVB, long-wavelength UVA, or visible light in the range 290–700 nm need to be tested for potential phototoxicity.

A Bifunctional T3SS‐Effector Simultaneously Cleaves Host MAP Kinase and Inhibits PPM1A Phosphatase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pathogenic bacteria exploit the metalloprotease effector NleD to subvert host defenses. Structural, biochemical, and infection analyses reveal a bifunctional mechanism by which NleD binds and inhibits the host phosphatase PPM1A while preserving its proteolytic activity against MAPKs.

Pathogenic Escherichia coli Possess Elevated Growth Rates under Exposure to Sub-Inhibitory Concentrations of Azithromycin

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2020
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the ten major threats to global health. Advances in technology, including whole-genome sequencing, have provided new insights into the origin and ...

TRMT6‐Mediated m1A Modification of CDK9 mRNA Is a Dual‐Pronged Pathogenic Driver for HBV‐Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRMT6‐mediated m1A modification in CDK9 mRNA enhances its mRNA stability and translation efficiency, thereby increasing the protein levels of CDK9. Upregulated CDK9 promotes the progression of HCC by elevating the levels of oncogenic factors including p‐STAT3, MCL1, and BCL‐2. On the other hand, CDK9 phosphorylates TARDBP at Ser254 to activate HBV core

Synthetic O‐Polysaccharide Backbone Units for a Single Antigen Vaccine Against Two Major Non‐Typhoidal Salmonella Serovars

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A modular strategy was developed to synthesize tri‐, hexa‐, and nona‐saccharides representing repeating units of the conserved O‐polysaccharide backbone of Salmonella. Conjugates of these glycans to bacteriophage Qβ induced strong IgG responses in mice and rabbits. Antibodies elicited recognized native O‐polysaccharides and conferred protection against

Bone marrow involvement in a patient with alpha heavy chain disease:Response to tetracycline treatment

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases, 2012
A 28-year-old man admitted with abdominal pain, weight loss and diarrhea. Barium x-ray studies showed segmentation, dilatation of bowel loops, mucosal folds thickening and delayed intestinal transit.

Maximum levels of cross‐contamination for 24 antimicrobial active substances in non‐target feed. Part 12: Tetracyclines: tetracycline, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline, and doxycycline

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2021
The specific concentrations of tetracycline, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline and doxycycline in non‐target feed for food‐producing animals, below which there would not be an effect on the emergence of, and/or selection for, resistance in bacteria ...

Vacuolar ATPase depletion contributes to dysregulation of endocytosis in bloodstream forms of Trypanosoma brucei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND Vacuolar H-ATPase (V-ATPase) is a highly conserved protein complex which hydrolyzes ATP and pumps protons to acidify vacuolar vesicles.

Targeting Peptostreptococcus anaerobius with an Iron‐Based Nanozyme Reverses Ferroptosis Resistance and Enhances Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An iron‐based nanozyme selectively eliminates intratumoral P. anaerobius while catalytically generating ROS to induce ferroptosis, synergistically suppressing colorectal cancer growth and activating anti‐tumor immunity through immunogenic cell death. ABSTRACT The intratumoral microbiota is a critical determinant of therapeutic outcomes in colorectal ...
