The presence and distribution of reduced folates in Escherichia coli dihydrofolate reductase mutants. [PDF]
Escherichia coli DNA photolyase was overproduced and purified from each of two mutant E. coli strains lacking dihydrofolate reductase. The extent of over-production in the mutants was comparable to that seen in the wild type strain.

ABSTRACT Given the inevitability of human and animal exposure to acrylamide, there is increasing concern regarding its potential health risks. While a number of molecular mechanisms have been proposed, the complexity of acrylamide toxicological pathways and interactions remains incompletely characterized.

A detailed study of methotrexate treatment in ectopic pregnancy [PDF]
Methotrexate is a folic acid antagonist, it works by inhibiting the dihydrofolate by interfering with the DNA synthesis. Ectopic pregnancy is a life threatening condition that may cause maternal mortality. The main aim of this review to show the efficacy

Methionine synthase supports tumour tetrahydrofolate pools
Mammalian cells require activated folates to generate nucleotides for growth and division. The most abundant circulating folate species is 5-methyl tetrahydrofolate (5-methyl-THF), which is used to synthesize methionine from homocysteine via the cobalamin-dependent enzyme methionine synthase (MTR).

Summary Omics technologies have transformed research in haemoglobinopathies, yet the proteome of RBCs remains largely unexplored in transfusion‐dependent thalassaemia (TDT). In this proteomic analysis, Red blood cell (RBC) membranes from 48 adults with TDT were compared with healthy controls.

ABSTRACT Neural tube defects (NTDs) are severe birth defects linked to insufficient maternal folate status during early pregnancy. Red blood cell (RBC) folate concentration is the recommended biomarker for predicting NTD risk, with a threshold of 748 nmol/L using the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) microbiological assay. However, in

Disruption of Asparagine Synthetase Is Associated to Increased Biomass in Lotus japonicus
ABSTRACT Asparagine (Asn) constitutes the major form of nitrogen translocated within Lotus japonicus plants. In this work we use knock‐out (KO) LORE1 mutants‐deficient in the asparagine synthetase gene (LjASN1), which is the most highly expressed ASN gene in plants grown under non‐symbiotic (NS) conditions, but much less expressed under symbiotic (S ...

An inadequate folate status is associated with increased risk of anaemia and neural tube defects. In many countries a folate intake below recommendations has been reported for women in childbearing age.

Riboflavin status, MTHFR genotype and blood pressure: current evidence and implications for personalised nutrition [PDF]
Clinical deficiency of the B-vitamin riboflavin (vitamin B2) is largely confined to developing countries; however accumulating evidence indicates that suboptimal riboflavin status is a widespread problem across the developed world. Few international data

ABSTRACT Microorganism and plant interactions are crucial for development and environmental adaptation. Plant growth promoting bacteria enhance agricultural productivity in a sustainable manner, while epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation regulate gene expression and adaptive responses.
