Efforts Made to Eliminate Drug‐Resistant Malaria and Its Challenges

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Since 2000, a good deal of progress has been made in malaria control. However, there is still an unacceptably high burden of the disease and numerous challenges limiting advancement towards its elimination and ultimate eradication. Among the challenges is the antimalarial drug resistance, which has been documented for almost all antimalarial drugs in ...

7, 8, 15, 16-Tetraoxa-dispiro [5. 2. 5. 2]hexadecane-3-carboxylic acid derivatives and their antimalarial activity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2004
Several C2 symmetrical mixed tetraoxanes were prepared starting from a gemdihydroperoxide and a ketone. The obtained tetraoxanes showed pronounced antimalarial activity against P. falciparum chloroquine resistant W2 and chloroquine susceptible D6 strains,

Synthesis and profiling of benzylmorpholine 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane analogue N205: Towards tetraoxane scaffolds with potential for single dose cure of malaria

open access: greenBioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2018
A series of aryl carboxamide and benzylamino dispiro 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane analogues have been designed and synthesized in a short synthetic sequence from readily available starting materials. From this series of endoperoxides, molecules with in vitro IC50s versus Plasmodium falciparum (3D7) as low as 0.84 nM were identified.

Cyclic Organic Peroxides as New Fungicides against Phytopathogenic Fungi

open access: yesAgrochemicals, 2023
The search for new classes of fungicides has long been important in plant protection due to the development of fungal resistance to currently used agrochemicals. Organic peroxides have long been regarded as exotic and unstable compounds. The discovery of

THEORETICAL STUDIES ON DIACETONEDIPEROXIDE DERIVATIVES AND COMPARISONS WITH OTHER MULTI-PEROXIDIC COMPOUNDS [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova
Diacetonediperoxide (DADP) derivatives were investigated with density functional theory (DFT) methods at the DFT-B3LYP and M06-2X/6-311++G (d, p) levels and were also compared with other multi-peroxidic compounds.

A Click Chemistry‐Based Proteomic Approach Reveals that 1,2,4‐Trioxolane and Artemisinin Antimalarials Share a Common Protein Alkylation Profile

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 128, Issue 22, Page 6511-6515, May 23, 2016., 2016
„Klickbare” 1,2,4‐Trioxolan‐Proteinprofilingsonden (ABPPs) wurden so entworfen, dass sie ihre Aktivität gegen Malaria behalten und die molekularen Targets des Blutstadiums von Plasmodium falciparum in situ alkylieren. Ein Vergleich ihrer Proteinalkylierungssignatur mit den entsprechenden Artemisinin‐ABPPs zeigt, dass beide Wirkstoffklassen ...

Steroidal Tetraoxanes - New Class of Antitumor Compounds

open access: hybridProceedings of The 3rd International Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry, 1999
Cholic acid derived steroidal tetraoxanes possessing methyl ester, carboxylic acid, primary and secondary amide termini were synthesised and their in vitro antitumor activity against Fem-X and HeLa cell cultures was determined. IC50 range between 3.1 and 166 M. Five out of seven tested compounds exhibited cell rounding and / or apoptic activity.

Antitumor Activity of Artemisinin and Its Derivatives: From a Well‐Known Antimalarial Agent to a Potential Anticancer Drug

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Improvement of quality of life and survival of cancer patients will be greatly enhanced by the development of highly effective drugs to selectively kill malignant cells. Artemisinin and its analogs are naturally occurring antimalarials which have shown potent anticancer activity.

The growth of tetraoxane crystals from acetone solutions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Crystal Growth, 1980
Abstract The growth mechanism of tetraoxane whiskers is investigated. The defect arrangement in the crystal is examined by X-ray topography. Whiskers can grow in the absence of any axia 1 dislocations. The nature of the crystal-solution interfaces is discussed.
