Chemometric methods in antimalarial drug design from 1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes analogues
A set of 23 steroidal 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane analogues were studied using quantum-chemical method (B3LYP/6-31 G*) and multivariate analyses (PCA, HCA, KNN and SIMCA) in order to calculate the properties and correlate them with antimalarial activity (log RA) against Plasmodium falciparum clone D-6 from Sierra Leone. The growth of tetraoxane crystals from acetone solutions [PDF]
Abstract The growth mechanism of tetraoxane whiskers is investigated. The defect arrangement in the crystal is examined by X-ray topography. Whiskers can grow in the absence of any axia 1 dislocations. The nature of the crystal-solution interfaces is discussed.

Optimisation of the synthesis of second generation 1,2,4,5 tetraoxane antimalarials
Abstract An efficient route to the synthesis of potent antimalarial aryloxy 1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes is described that permits parallel synthesis for Structure–Activity Relationship (SAR) investigations. Brief details of the in vitro and in vivo antimalarial evaluation are included which enables identification of antimalarial leads for further development.
