Are Hymenoptera Tetraploid?

Nature, 1936
A RECENT communication1 has suggested that among Hymenoptera Symphyta males may be diploid, females tetraploid. It was further suggested that this characteristic might help to explain the phenomena of pre-conjugation as seen in Apis and Cynips kollari.

Development of cytochalasin B-induced tetraploid and diploid/tetraploid mosaic mouse embryos

Development, 1977
ABSTRACTBy subjecting F1 (CBA × C57/BL) × A eggs at the time of 2nd cleavage to 10 μg/ml of cytochalasin B (CB), tetraploidy was produced in 52 % of 2-cell eggs and 35 % of 3-cell eggs. 2n/4n mosaic embryos were produced from 2-, 3- and 4-cell eggs and amounted to 20 % of all treated eggs.

In vitro tetraploid induction and generation of tetraploids from mixoploids in Astragalus membranaceus

Scientia Horticulturae, 2007
This paper describes an efficient colchicine-mediated technique for the in vitro induction of tetraploids in Astragalus membranaceus and its confirmation by flow cytometry. Buds immersed in 0.2% colchicine solution for 36 h prior to culture induced as high as 35.3% tetraploid plants. Colchicine-induced tetraploids remained stable after 6 months in soil.

TRIPLOID AND TETRAPLOID HYBRIDS FROM DIPLOID X TETRAPLOID CROSSES IN GRINDELIA (COMPOSITAE)

American Journal of Botany, 1970
Crosses between the diploids G. oxylepis var. eligulata Steyermark (Mexico) and G. havardii Steyermark (New Mexico) and the tetraploid G. aphanactis Rydb. (New Mexico) were made. With G. aphanactis as the pistillate parent and G. havardii as the pollen parent a triploid hybrid was obtained in which the maximum meiotic configuration observed was 6m. The

Developmental potential of mouse tetraploid cells in diploid <--> tetraploid chimeric embryos.

The International journal of developmental biology, 2003
Mouse 2n (lacZ-) 4n (lacZ+) aggregation chimeras were examined 5 or 10 days after uterine transfer to test the potential of 4n cells to contribute to embryonic tissues. Recovered embryos corresponded to embryonic day 7.5 approximately 8.0 and 12.5, respectively.
