A Study of Meiosis in Perennial Teosinte, in Tetraploid Maize and in their Tetraploid Hybrid

open access: yesCaryologia, 1962
SUMMARYPerennial teosinte was found to be a modified autotetraploid with a reduced chiasma frequency and an extension of chiasma interference across the centromere. This apparently simple modification has reduced quadrivalent frequency and has restricted quadrivalent types to rings and chains.

Molecular Tumor Boards in Malignant Melanoma: Uncovering Challenges and Opportunities in a Bicenter Retrospective Analysis in Germany

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 9, Page 2290-2299, 1 November 2026.
Molecular tumor boards (MTB), interdisciplinary teams that use tumor genomic data to guide personalized treatment decisions, have emerged as a promising strategy in melanoma care, although their real‐world clinical impact remains uncertain. This retrospective study evaluated advanced melanoma patients to assess molecularly guided treatment ...

Gene therapy for hereditary deafness: Progress, challenges and translational implications from OTOF to GJB2

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
Current Management & Limitations: Traditional auditory devices lack genetic curative potential and yield variable, non‐physiological hearing outcomes. OTOF gene therapy has shown promising clinical outcomes with dual‐AAV therapy. GJB2 gene therapy remains an emerging approach with significant translational challenges. Advances in vector design and cell‐

In vitro induction of tetraploids and their phenotypic and transcriptome analysis in Glehnia littoralis

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Glehnia littoralis is a medicinal and edible plant species having commercial value and has several hundred years of cultivation history. Polyploid breeding is one of the most important and fastest ways to generate novel varieties.

Optimising Sulphur Fertilisation in Ryegrass–White Clover Swards Reduces Leached Nitrate Nitrogen Losses, While Increasing Plant Yield and Nitrogen Off‐Take

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 189, Issue 5, Page 666-680, October 2026.
The inclusion of sulphur at two inorganic nitrogen rates (0 and 150 kg N ha−1) improves plant productivity in a ryegrass–white clover sward and reduces nitrate‐N loss to groundwater in a free‐draining sandy loam soil. ABSTRACT Background Reducing nitrogen (N) losses to water, lessening reliance on inorganic fertiliser and maintaining agricultural ...

Tetraploidization Altered Phenotypic Traits and Metabolite Profile of Java Ginseng (Talinum paniculatum (Jacq.) Gaertn.)

open access: yesPlants
Polyploidization is a beneficial technique for enhancing the biomass of and secondary metabolite concentrations in plants. Java ginseng (Talinum paniculatum (Jacq.) Gaertn.) can be used as an alternative source of nutrition and has both ornamental and ...

Wheat Wild Relatives and Modern Cultivars Differ for Salt Resistance in Terms of Morpho‐Physiological Traits

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 189, Issue 5, Page 721-734, October 2026.
Wheat wild relatives are untapped genetic resources from salinity and drought hit areas. This study presents differential comparative morphophysiological responses of these species and modern wheat cultivars under saline conditions. Salt resistant species produce more shoot and root biomass under saline conditions through salt exclusion and/or tissue ...

Comparative Analysis of the Biochemical Composition, Amino Acid, and Fatty Acid Contents of Diploid, Triploid, and Tetraploid Crassostrea gigas

open access: yesMolecules
Tetraploid oysters are artificially produced oysters that do not exist in nature. The successful breeding of 100% triploid oysters resolved the difficulties of traditional drug-induced triploids, such as the presence of drug residues and a low triploid ...

Optical genome mapping enhanced by refined variant interpretation in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 270, Issue 2, Page 241-254, October 2026.
Abstract Reliable detection of structural variants (SVs) and copy number variations (CNVs) is crucial in the contemporary diagnostics of pediatric B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL). However, limitations of commonly used conventional and molecular cytogenetic methods may hinder the accurate genetic characterization of patients.
