Influence of text line segmentation in Handwritten Text Recognition

Handwritten Document Offline Text Line Segmentation
Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA'05), 2005In this paper, a method of text segmentation into lines of text known as cut text minimization (CTM) is described. Results applying the CTM method to the NIST data base examples of fifty two word handwritten paragraphs of the American Constitutions are given. The method uses a modified projection method to obtain starting points.

On-line text/drawings segmentation of handwritten patterns
Proceedings of 2nd International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR '93), 2002A simple and fast segmentation of text and line drawings which exploits the characteristics of online handwritten patterns is presented. Many attempts have been made on text/figure segmentation in offline research, but none in online. In online environment, mode selection is easily employed to input characters and drawings commongly.

Text Line Segmentation of Historical Arabic Documents

A Model for Text Line Segmentation and Classification in Printed Documents
2021 13th International Conference on Machine Learning and Computing, 2021In this paper, we propose a new model for text line segmentation and classification, which consists of convolutional and two-layer bi-directional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) networks. Trained on the synthetic text dataset, it performs excellently when predicting the real data.

Text line segmentation in Chinese handwritten text images
