A Robust Progressive Text Line Segmentation Framework with Markov Line Descriptors
2020 The 4th International Conference on Video and Image Processing, 2020Text line segmentation (TLS) continues to be an unsolved problem in the field of document analysis, and this is especially true for lines of handwritten characters. In recent years, however, this challenging problem has seen a surge of interest. In this paper we introduce our work on a new robust framework for solving the TLS problem via a trial-and ...

Skew Estimation and Segmentation of Text Line in Video Frames
2008 International Symposiums on Information Processing, 2008A method is proposed to segment text from complex background for recognition task. First we estimate the skew of text line and rotate it to the horizontal one. Second, a sampling method based on color edge is proposed to get portion of the text pixels and non-text pixels.

Text Line Segmentation Based on Morphology and Histogram Projection
2009 10th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition, 2009Text extraction is an important phase in document recognition systems. In order to segment text from a page document it is necessary to detect all the possible manuscript text regions. In this article we propose an efficient algorithm to segment handwritten text lines.

A Variational Bayes Method for Handwritten Text Line Segmentation
2009 10th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition, 2009Text line segmentation in unconstrained handwritten documents remains a challenge because handwritten text lines are multi-skewed and not obviously separated. This paper presents a new approach based on the variational Bayes (VB) framework for text line segmentation.

Text Line Segmentation in Handwritten Documents with Generative Adversarial Networks
2021 International Conference on INnovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA), 2021In document analysis and recognition applications, segmenting the text lines accurately is a crucial step. Text line segmentation in handwritten documents is still a challenging task because of numerous factors that can decrease the segmentation accuracy.

A Morphological Approach for Text-Line Segmentation in Handwritten Documents
2010 12th International Conference on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition, 2010Document image segmentation to text lines is a critical stage towards unconstrained handwritten document recognition. Although morphological operations proved to be effective in processing machine-printed documents for several issues, similar methods for unconstraint-handwritten documents lack accuracy.

A Morphological Approach to Persian Handwritten Text Line Segmentation
2014 UKSim-AMSS 16th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation, 2014This paper deals with extracting lines in handwritten Persian texts. In the presented method, at first, oblique lines and dots pertaining to words that are the main causes of two lines sticking to each other are eliminated. Then, using morphological operations, the remaining components of lines stick to one another.

Paragraph text segmentation into lines with Recurrent Neural Networks
2015 13th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR), 2015The detection of text lines, as a first processing step, is critical in all text recognition systems. State-of-the-art methods to locate lines of text are based on handcrafted heuristics fine-tuned by the image processing community's experience. They succeed under certain constraints; for instance the background has to be roughly uniform. We propose to

Lines segmentation and word extraction of Arabic handwritten text
Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Smart City Applications, 2018Words are often a succession of sub-words (characters, connected components) separated by spaces, in Arabic handwritten its spaces are divided into two types: the first type represents the spaces that separate two connected components of the same word (within-word).
