Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Face Classification Using Color Information

open access: yesInformation, 2017
Color models are widely used in image recognition because they represent significant information. On the other hand, texture analysis techniques have been extensively used for facial feature extraction.

Influence of an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere on Diamond‐Single‐Grain Scratching of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐grain scratching of Ti–6Al–4V is investigated under controlled, oxygen‐free, and ambient atmospheres using a novel experimental setup with in situ high‐speed imaging. The approach enables direct observation of chip formation and adhesion under suppressed oxidation.

Texture and sensory changes of a fresh ewe's cheese packed under different modified atmospheres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Shelf-life extension of fresh ewe's milk cheese packaged with three different MAP conditions was studied. Fresh cheeses were stored in barrier trays, hermetically sealed with a barrier to gas and water film.

Improved texture image classification through the use of a corrosion-inspired cellular automaton

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, the problem of classifying synthetic and natural texture images is addressed. To tackle this problem, an innovative method is proposed that combines concepts from corrosion modeling and cellular automata to generate a texture descriptor ...

Texture analysis by a perceptual model

open access: yes[1988 Proceedings] 9th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2003
A hierarchical set of operators for texture analysis is presented. The method used is to code the local frequency resonance of these operators but not their simple responses. Therefore, the texture features obtained are stable. The operators fulfil the conditions described by J.P. Crettez (1984) in his work on the visual system model.

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...
