Segmentation of lungs from volumetric CT-scan images using prior knowledge (shape and texture)

open access: yes, 2014
This thesis presents a hierarchical segmentation scheme for The segmentation of lungs from volumetric CT images that concerns variational segmentation methods, namely geodesic active surfaces (GAS) and active surfaces without edges (ASWE), a volumetric ...

Rotationally invariant texture features using the dual-tree complex wavelet transform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
New rotationally invariant texture feature extraction methods are introduced that utilise the dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT). The complex wavelet transform is a new technique that uses a dual tree of wavelet filters to obtain the real and ...

Optimized Multichannel Filter Bank with Flat Frequency Response for Texture Segmentation

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2005
Previous approaches to texture analysis and segmentation use multichannel filtering by applying a set of filters in the frequency domain or a set of masks in the spatial domain.

Wood Cellulosic Membrane With Abundant Nanochannels for Stabilizing Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐derived cellulosic membrane separator is developed to suppress dendrite growth in aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. Its aligned nanochannels and hydroxyl‐rich surfaces enable uniform Zn2+ flux, water immobilization, and interfacial stabilization. Zn||Zn cells achieve 1920 h of cycling, Zn||Cu cells maintain 99.5% Coulombic efficiency over 1000 cycles,

Redirecting Nano‐Silicon Agglomeration: Dual‐Carbon Design Triggers Self‐Adaptive Nanoporous Si Sponge for Enhanced Lithium Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study addresses silicon anode degradation using an engineered nSi/Gr/C dual‐carbon matrix. By restricting SEI infiltration, the architecture redirects silicon agglomeration into a beneficial structural self‐adaptive activation. During cycling, silicon nanoparticles self‐organize into a resilient nanoporous sponge. This dynamic network accommodates

Coaxially Electrospun Myocardial dECM‐ Based Nanofibrous Scaffolds Demonstrate Enhanced Cardiomyocyte Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Invariant texture segmentation using multi-channel approaches

open access: yes, 2022
S.11-23A method of rotation and scale invariant texture segmentation is proposed, which can also be employed for object recognition based on pattern analysis in noisy images. The method has low sensitivity to illumination and low noise sensitivity.
