Reverse Action of ULTCs: A Novel Scheme to Prevent Voltage Instability

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study presents a straightforward method to mitigate voltage instability caused by Under‐Load Tap Changers (ULTCs') reverse action. As the system approaches instability, power network equipment may fail to transmit reactive power effectively to loads, resulting in a waste of network‐generated reactive power.

The Influence of Excitation Inrush Current on the Second Harmonic Characteristics of Doubly Fed Induction Generator

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Considering the no‐load closing of a transformer in the adjacent substation of a wind farm as the research background, this study investigated the harmonic distortion in the voltage at the point of common coupling caused by the inrush current. By quantitatively analysing the transient response of the stator and rotor flux linkage of the wind turbine ...

Oxygen delivery and consumption in aging skeletal muscle: Insights from an electric analogy model of PO2 transients

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, January 2026.
Abstract Mathematical models are essential for understanding oxygen transport and utilization during metabolic transitions. An electrical analogy concept proposed that exponential PO2 transients arise from interaction between oxygen storage capacitance and transport conductances, but lacked explicit circuit representation limiting quantitative ...

An Improved Equivalent Circuit for Electric Field Sensors in Geophysical Exploration

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 73, Issue 8, October 2025.
ABSTRACT In electromagnetic measurements, electric field sensors consist of two halves, with remote electrodes of negative and positive polarity coupled through wires and low pass filters to the differential inputs of an analogue‐to‐digital converter; the electrical ground of the analogue‐to‐digital converter is connected to the ground through a ...

Edge of Chaos Theory Unveils the First and Simplest Ever Reported Hodgkin–Huxley Neuristor

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 8, June 2025.
This manuscript presents the first and simplest ever‐reported electrical cell, which leverages one memristor on Edge of Chaos to reproduce the three‐bifurcation cascade, marking the entire life cycle from birth to extinction via All‐to‐None effect of an electrical spike, also referred to as Action Potential, across axon membranes under monotonic ...

Short‐Dipole Sensor Response Linearization Through Physics‐Informed Neural Networks

open access: yesBioelectromagnetics, Volume 46, Issue 4, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Short‐dipole diode sensors loaded with highly resistive lines are commonly used to measure the time‐averaged square of the high‐frequency electromagnetic field amplitude directly. Their precision, simplicity, broadband, high dynamic range capability, and minimal scattering make them ideal for application in the near‐field of sources ...

A Bilevel Optimal Control Method and Application to the Hybrid Electric Vehicle

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, Volume 46, Issue 3, Page 1104-1119, May/June 2025.
Schematic representation of the Macro‐Micro method. ABSTRACT In this article we present a new numerical method based on a bilevel decomposition of optimal control problems. A strong connection between the proposed method and the classical indirect multiple shooting method is shown in the regular case, thanks to a link between the Bellman's value ...

An online loop closing current calculation method for complex distribution networks considering source and load uncertainties

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper proposes an online method for calculating loop closing current that addresses the uncertainties in source and load fluctuations. By using a dual‐stack dynamic monitoring system and Thevenin's theorem for network modelling, the method accurately calculates both steady‐state and transient loop closing currents.

A Physics‐Informed Neural Network‐Based Transient Overvoltage Magnitude Prediction Method for Renewable Energy Stations Under DC Blocking Scenarios

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper first derives an analytical expression for the transient overvoltage (TOV) magnitude at critical nodes in the system caused by DC blocking (DCB) faults. Subsequently, an analytical formula is developed to characterize the relationship between the multiple renewable energy stations short circuit ratio (MRSCR) and the transient voltage rise ...

Modal Analysis of Power System With High IBR Penetration Based on Impedance Models

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
A unified physical interpretation of modal analysis based on the impedance model (MAI), based on the electrical distance perspective is further presented. To make MAI more applicable and accurate, a new total evaluation index is proposed to fix the potential misjudgment when computing the admittance sensitivity factor.
